Former NYC Mayor Rudy Giuliani has admitted that he made “false” statements about two Georgia election officials he accused of rigging the 2020 election.
In an overnight court filing signed by Guiliani, Donald Trump’s former personal lawyer conceded that he does not contest the allegations made in a defamation suit brought by Peach State elections workers Ruby Freeman and her daughter Wandrea “Shay” Moss.
“The Defendant Giuliani, for the purposes of this litigation only, does not contest that … such actionable factual statements are false,” the filing, shared by Politico reporter Kyle Cheney, reads.
However, Guiliani, 79, insisted that his statements “did not carry meaning that is defamatory, per se” and that they are “constitutionally protected statements or opinions.”
The two election workers filed a defamation suit against Giuliani, once “America’s mayor,” and conservative news network One America News Network (OAN) in December 2021, accusing them of spreading false claims they had committed election fraud in the 2020 presidential election.
A heavily edited clip of security footage was widely circulated online and by Trump allies at the time as supposed proof of fraud.
Guiliani accused the mother-daughter duo of passing USB drives “like vials of heroin or cocaine” while they were counting ballots.
Moss later revealed to the House Select Committee investigating the January 6 Capitol riot that her mother handed her a ginger mint.
Georgia’s State Election Board dismissed its yearslong investigation into alleged election fraud in June and officially cleared Freeman and Moss.
The fraud claims were “unsubstantiated and found to have no merit,” the investigation concluded, NBC reported.

As the Trump legal cases mount up, the loyalists around Trump thru all the 2020 election issues are not going to fall on the sword for him, I think they realize the Feds are serious about sending people to jail for some significant time.
A lot of them are going to roll over and save themselves from financial ruin and from significant jail time.
I’ve seen some reports that I have no idea if they are true or not that Mark Meadows has rolled over and is talking to the Grand Jury.
Weren’t they pulling suitcases of ballots from under the table and counting with anyone around. Running some stacks through the machine more than once.

No...this isn’t about lying...it’s about defamation...but he still insists he was only giving an opinion...and I really doubt if he actually caused them harm. During elections....everyone...yes everyone is doing it.

If Freeman was really part of the conspiracy she wouldn’t still be above ground with all the attention she has drawn.
This one is a trap. Conservatives need to be very careful what they say or Ruby could become owner of your retirement savings.
At the end of the day…. Ruby and co. were tabulating ballots with no observers present. They were told they were not needed. So they left and counting resumed. This is not an issue? Oh yeah and the magic totes of votes that amazing had 90% Biden votes tucked away in them? Cmon man.
Giuliani didn’t admit to lying. He merely admitted to defaming the election workers sorting the ballots. He’s also pointing out that Free Speech allows for the airing of alternative viewpoints, so Tough Luck!
I disagree. In fact she was basically caught on cctv not following protocol. This means the DSers really needed to double down and prove her “innocence”…. With tried and true lawfare. It worked. Now cheaters caught on video cheating are innocent and even more disgusting…. They won a lawsuit against the accusers. Now Giuliani has no choice but to say he was wrong or else hell be next….. The world cant be more broken than it is now. The same folks that set Ruby free are the ones who never bothered with investigations and now are going after Trump. Understand - no one of any political party affiliation was going to allow the election to be questioned. Even with plain as day evidence.
