A police traffic stop in suburban Chicago turned into federal charges after cops found law enforcement badges and about $800,000 in counterfeit U.S. Savings Bonds in the driver’s car, according to a newly-filed criminal complaint.
Robert R. Krilich, 58, is charged with possessing a counterfeit U.S. security intending to defraud.
Rosemont police pulled Krilich over on Tuesday afternoon because they didn’t see a license plate on his car, officials said. Things snowballed from there.
First, Krilich told the officers that he just picked up his car from O’Hare after returning from Las Vegas, and he believed someone stole his plates while he was gone. But the cops realized his car had a proper plate attached, but it was covered with a piece of paper.

Inside the gray Ford sedan, they recovered about $800,000 worth of fake bonds, blank FBI credentials, a U.S. Marshal Service star, a Homeland Security Investigations badge, a typewriter, and two laptops, a Secret Service agent wrote in a federal criminal complaint.

Before I retired I renewed my mil passport. Never arrived, when I followed up the passport people told me it wasn’t unusual for 25-30% of mil passports to be “lost in the mail”. Apparently his father was a Chicago real estate developer, who died wealthy in Ft Lauderdale in 2021 at age 90. Robert Krilich, Jr seems to be a major grifter and doper of the Hunter Biden stripe. His plea deal from 2016 didn’t seem to deter him from a life of crime. See story at link below (probably have to cut and paste). Lord knows what all this scoundrel has been up to.

Involved in a major bribery blowup in Chicago in 1997, with 5 year sentence (story was behind paywall at Chicago Tribune). A Las Vegas bundle of crime led to a weak plea deal in 2016 that didn’t seem to deter him from a life of crime. See story at link below (probably have to cut and paste). Lord knows what all this scoundrel has been up to. That he gets off without much punishment relative to the crime is suggestive of connections.

Based on what I’m expecting, the taking down of both FIB and Clowns In America, this is likely the start of skirmishes between them, perhaps interagency warfare. Next, some story about FIB retaliation

A friend worked for the man for some years, and he said not a crook, but you do NOT want to do business with him, as he seldom is on the losing end of the deal.
I had met him a couple of times, he was nice enough.
He had an office building near his house with his office on a catwalk above all the worker’s desks, which was a bit odd.
