Before I retired I renewed my mil passport. Never arrived, when I followed up the passport people told me it wasn’t unusual for 25-30% of mil passports to be “lost in the mail”. When I asked what they did about this they said “we just issue another one”, like no big deal that thousand’s of military passports are lost annually………

The US Postal Service is a great provider of opportunities for stolen money, personal identifications, and most importantly votes.

Mine was “lost” out of a diplomatic pouch in Russia. Yeah, they just issued a new one. Why sneak across the border illegally when you are in possession of a US passport?
