Doctor Who has unveiled the first look at the remodeled Sonic Screwdriver for Ncuti Gatwa's Doctor.

The Sex Education star is set to take over the TARDIS following three 60th anniversary Doctor Who specials airing this year — but it isn't just the Time Lord getting a makeover.

The BBC has unveiled both a promo shot and a teaser displaying a glossy silver shade for the device along with some gold trim. The sonic energy glows blue in this revamped Screwdriver.

The Doctor’s clothing and Companion after a regeneration is a big moment for all new Doctors, but the most important event will be the new look at the Tardis interior.

The 2005 writer/showrunner has returned to . . . essentially try to save Doctor Who from what happened with the 13th (female) Doctor. She had many interviews in which she said the right things (”Look, I come to work early and I leave late. I know how important this role is and I am just a steward and must leave it as good or better than how I found it. I work hard. If we fail it won’t be because I was a slacker.”), but in the end she can only deliver the lines they give her.

I have seen a few clips of this new Doctor. I am hopeful. His expressions are skilled. He is not giggly. He is very serious about whatever line he is saying.

Dr. Who is a character that by definition, the way the character changes, could be female or black. I have not seen of the episodes in years.

The Doctor has human form but what sort of human does not matter. His internal architecture is not human. He has two hearts. For those not up to speed, the Doctor is not human. There is no physical love interest. There is no sex. There is deep, profound love for his Companion of the moment, and it is always platonic. The fate of Companions is very angsty and part of the storyline. Brian, Rory's father, Amy's father in law. "What happened to the others?" The Doctor: "Others?" "The others who travelled with you." "Oh. Well, some . . . some moved on. Some stayed behind. Some . . . some . . . very few . . . they died. But not them, Brian. Never them." Brian and Amy were killed about 1 or 2 episodes later. He never returned to Brian to explain how. Maybe some day.
