Jason Aldean defended himself Tuesday after CMT pulled the controversial music video for his song “Try That in a Small Town” from its rotation amid accusations it is pro-lynching and racist.
“In the past 24 hours I have been accused of releasing a pro-lynching song (a song that has been out since May) and was subject to the comparison that I (direct quote) was not too pleased with the nationwide BLM protests,” Aldean, 46, wrote in a statement posted to his Instagram Story. “These references are not only meritless, but dangerous.”
In the first verse, Aldean sings: “Sucker punch somebody on a sidewalk / Carjack an old lady at a red light / Pull a gun on the owner of a liquor store / Ya think it’s cool, well, act a fool if ya like.”

You were in Texas, right? And probably the cook and most of the kitchen staff were too.
I also like Austin Moody’s “I’m Just Sayin.”

I found it a bit more musical.
If you’d like a good vigilante movie, I recommend In Broad Daylight, starring Brian Dennehy and Cloris Leachman. It’s old but the acting makes it seem very real.

Thought I recognized the place. Went to C.M.A for my Junior/Senior years back in the mid-60's.
Ganster rap songs go way further than this where they actually describe the way they want to kill whitey.
Never heard any blow back from those lyrics.
I could post a sample here but then this post would be removed.
Yep. I grew up in a rural county, almost all white save for a few Indians. The few bad actors we had were routinely ‘harassed’ and effectively driven out by LEOs. All white. (Indians kept to the reservations, mostly, and meted out their own justice as needed.). Punks are punks, skin color doesn’t figure in one iota. (FWIW, we had two black guys in our class of 97 kids. Not a single GD ‘issue’ around that, and we all hung together. This was before the hyper race-baiting of the past 20 years...)
“Murder On Music Row”
Nobody saw him running from sixteenth avenue.
They never found the fingerprint or the weapon that was used.
But someone killed country music, cut out its heart and soul.
They got away with murder down on music row.
The almighty dollar and the lust for worldwide fame
Slowly killed tradition and for that someone should hang.
They all say not guilty, but the evidence will show
That murder was committed down on music row.
[Chorus:]
For the steel guitars no longer cry and fiddles barely play,
But drums and rock ‘n roll guitars are mixed up in your face.
Old Hank wouldn’t have a chance on today’s radio
Since they committed murder down on music row.
They thought no one would miss it, once it was dead and gone
They said no one would buy them old drinking and cheating songs
Well there ain’t no justice in it and the hard facts are cold
Murder’s been committed down on music row.
[Chorus:]
Oh, the steel guitars no longer cry and you can’t hear fiddles play
With drums and rock ‘n roll guitars mixed right up in your face
Why, the Hag, he wouldn’t have a chance on today’s radio
Since they committed murder down on music row
Why, they even tell the Possum to pack up and go back home
There’s been an awful murder down on music row.
Truth is the new “Hate Speech”.
THIS country has TOLERATED & REVERED the nasty ‘lyrics’ of “rappers’ for years.
“Rape your bitches & ho’s”, etc. NOTHING EVERY HAPPENED.
Aldean is 100 % correct.
IIRC-—2 buses of trouble makers showed up in Coeur d’Alene.
They arrived to find ALL the townspeople standing shoulder to shoulder with the local LEO’s—and EVERY ONE in town had guns.
Buses left.
The video includes white and black trash. The message is simple: Don’t start nothing, won’t be nothing. FAFO.
I gave it a quick listen, and I do recall hearing it before (CDB/Hank Jr.). I much prefer The South’s Gonna Do It Again.
My son just graduated Summa Cum Laude from Columbia Academy this past May. The Columbia Military Academy alumni association still maintains their museum in the guard house there on the corner of campus.
well CMT might have pulled it from their play list. the song is still out there, I just listen to it on youtube, great song, screw the leftist.
Congratulations to him. My wife and I visited the campus a few years back. Almost like going home.
GA. Home of Waffle House HQ.
We once had the Waffle House food truck do a Saturday breakfast after a family fun run/bike event in our old neighborhood. The CFO or similar upper management lived there, and strings were pulled. We lived about 15-20 minutes from their HQ, which is nothing time wise in the ATL area.
I have experience with CMT
New York transplants who hate conservatives Christians and the south
And look like u described
Hipsters and blue hairs from “up there”
Love that Aaron Lewis song- blast it from car with windows open. Progress by John Rich good too. I like Kid Rock’s song We the People as well
64. Re black violence songs that are never criticized.
It’s called “Untouchable Reverse Racism”.
Alive and doing well in Liberal, marxist, Democrap-ruined America.
Give me the older “brotherhood/sisterhood” positive songs, such as:
* Love Train - O’Jays
* Ebony and Ivory - Stevie Wonder and Paul McCarthy
* Black and White - Three Dog Night
* He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother - The Hollies
* Get Together - The Youngbloods
* Everyday People - Sly and the Family Stone
* That’s What Friends Are For - Dionne Warwick, Elton John, Gladys Knight and Stevie Wonder
* Lean On Me - Bill Withers
By the critics and MSM calling out this song as racist, they are admitting who is doing the sucker punching, carjacking, and the robbing of liquor stores.
