Jason Aldean defended himself Tuesday after CMT pulled the controversial music video for his song “Try That in a Small Town” from its rotation amid accusations it is pro-lynching and racist.
“In the past 24 hours I have been accused of releasing a pro-lynching song (a song that has been out since May) and was subject to the comparison that I (direct quote) was not too pleased with the nationwide BLM protests,” Aldean, 46, wrote in a statement posted to his Instagram Story. “These references are not only meritless, but dangerous.”
In the first verse, Aldean sings: “Sucker punch somebody on a sidewalk / Carjack an old lady at a red light / Pull a gun on the owner of a liquor store / Ya think it’s cool, well, act a fool if ya like.”

It doesn't matter. Nobody watches CMT, least of all Aldean fans. They don't listen to the radio either.
They tried to cancel Morgan Wallen a couple years back when a video surfaced of him uttering that magic word that only black people are allowed to use.
They yanked all of his songs off the radio.
Well, Wallen is currently on tour and seeing how he just sold out two nights last weekend at San Diego's PetCo stadium (where the Padres play. Big place!) I'd say he's doing just fine.
As will Jason Aldean, one of modern country's biggest stars.
The Fightin’ Side Of Me
Song by Merle Haggard 1970
I hear people talkin’ bad about the way we have to live here in this country
Harpin’ on the wars we fight, an’ gripin’ ‘bout the way things oughta be
An’ I don’t mind ‘em switchin’ sides, an’ standin’ up for things they believe in
When they’re runnin’ down my country, man
They’re walkin’ on the fightin’ side of me
Yeah, walkin’ on the fightin’ side of me
Runnin’ down a way of life our fightin’ men have fought and died to keep
If you don’t love it, leave it
Let this song I’m singin’ be a warnin’
When you’re runnin’ down my country, man
You’re walkin’ on the fightin’ side of me
IMHO, "they" know who he is singing about, and don't want "their" intended victims thinking about it. IMHO this is what is really bothering "them", the racism angle is a convenient canard.
This video was filmed in my hometown of Columbia, Tennessee. That’s our county courthouse you see behind Jason, who lives here. That evening sunset you see is not edited... They look like that all the time. We love our small town life, and this song.
And I’ll hang around as long as you will let me
And I never minded standing’ in the rain, no
But you don’t have to call me darlin’, darlin’
You never even called me
Well, I wonder why you don’t call me
Why don’t you ever call me by my name
I left out the best part
Well, I was drunk the day my mom got out of prison
And I went to pick her up in the rain
But before I could get to the station in my pickup truck
She got run over by a damned old train
And I’ll hang around as long as you will let me
And I never minded standing’ in the rain, no
But you don’t have to call me darlin’, darlin’
You never even called me
Well, I wonder why you don’t call me
Why don’t you ever call me by my name
Heh! I was just going to mention that Hank Jr. Classic. Oh, the pearl clutching it would cause among our ‘elites’.
Heh! Love that song!
People who hear these lyrics and assume they are about black people are the real racists. Also, why not any faux outrage over rap lyrics that have been about shooting cops and abusing women for decades now?
Simple Man by good ol Charlie Daniels is pretty hard core too... just sayin’.
White people aren’t supposed to stand up for themselves.
“Controversial “= when it exposes the radical left.
Annnd they didn’t even see it, until some conservative pointed it out to the world....
That would be Lynyrd Skynyrd
Sucker punch somebody on a sidewalk
Carjack an old lady at a red light
Pull a gun on the owner of a liquor store
Ya think it’s cool, well, act a fool if ya like
Cuss out a cop, spit in his face
Stomp on the flag and light it up
Yeah, ya think you’re tough
Well, try that in a small town
See how far ya make it down the road
Around here, we take care of our own
You cross that line, it won’t take long
For you to find out, I recommend you don’t
Try that in a small town
Got a gun that my granddad gave me
They say one day they’re gonna round up
Well, that shit might fly in the city, good luck
Try that in a small town
See how far ya make it down the road
Around here, we take care of our own
You cross that line, it won’t take long
For you to find out, I recommend you don’t
Try that in a small town
Full of good ol’ boys, raised up right
If you’re looking for a fight
Try that in a small town
Try that in a small town
Try that in a small town
See how far ya make it down the road
Around here, we take care of our own
You cross that line, it won’t take long
For you to find out, I recommend you don’t
Try that in a small town
Try that in a small town
Ooh-ooh
Try that in a small town
Took four people to write it and Aldean isn't even one of them.
Jason Aldean didn’t go too far. The LEFT has gone too far.
who is this Jason person?
Long Haired Country Boy Charlie Daniels
I never heard once of rappers and hip hoppers having to defend that garbage they sling. Aldean’s new song is “brave and courageous” just like the guilty little white folks think “hip hop” garbage is. We need more songs like Aldean’s just to offset the crap being slung by liberals like Tater Swuft. I don’t know what country it comes from but it sure isn’t “country music.” The crap they are calling country is lullabies for Head Starters and Kindergarteners.
You forgot the blo. You gotta do more blo, abuse some hoes and kill some cops... And fuck whitey... And my gun goes bang, bang, bang.
Those are the themes after the eighties when Diana Rosss and motown love themes died.
Its the culture, their culture.
The BLM culture.
