Jason Aldean defended himself Tuesday after CMT pulled the controversial music video for his song “Try That in a Small Town” from its rotation amid accusations it is pro-lynching and racist.
“In the past 24 hours I have been accused of releasing a pro-lynching song (a song that has been out since May) and was subject to the comparison that I (direct quote) was not too pleased with the nationwide BLM protests,” Aldean, 46, wrote in a statement posted to his Instagram Story. “These references are not only meritless, but dangerous.”
In the first verse, Aldean sings: “Sucker punch somebody on a sidewalk / Carjack an old lady at a red light / Pull a gun on the owner of a liquor store / Ya think it’s cool, well, act a fool if ya like.”

Interestingly, during the riots of 2020 in the Seattle area, the terrorist declared that they were going to move out into the suburbs with their destruction.
Several of the small towns were being targeted and when the little town of Snohomish, northeast of Seattle, got word they were on the list, the citizens in Snohomish showed up en masse, along with their legally owned firearms. Made for great photos showing these brave citizens standing up for their town.
Oh, and the terrorists didn’t “Try That In (that) Small Town.”
While a country music guy, I didn’t really get into Jason’s music that much. Now, however, I’m a full blown fan of Jason and his wife for having the guts to stand up for what is right.
That is MILD compared to what country folks are thinking now.
Who ever got upset over this needs to get a bus load of clues.
I downloaded this song last night and have been listening to it and watching the video all night long. It’s great to see someone standing up to the woke sissy boys so-called Americans have become. I didn’t know there were any Americans left that had this in their character anymore.
Check it out while it’s still there. It’ll be gone soon.
It’s too American.
I hope Neil Young will remember

“In the mornin’ on a Saturday
I got my girls and we’re skippin’ town
In my ‘67 442 got the rag top down
Aldean’s on the radio
Ain’t it funny how they sing along
Makes you smile just a little bit because it’s not a Miley Cyrus song”.

Although, one is not familiar with Mr. Aldean's music and would be inclined to have no problem with his lyrics.
“While I’m no expert on country music, it seems to have been going downhill for a while.”
It’s dead, Jim.
There you go thinking again.
:-)
Exactly! And they don’t even see it.
Also, why not any faux outrage over rap lyrics that have been about shooting cops and abusing women for decades now?
There’s that good ol’ leftist double standard again.
No, its also a Charlie Daniels song, Simple Man by Skynrd is different, same title tho’ I encourage you to give it a listen. ... Watch where you’re going/Remember where you been. Thats the way I see it, I’m a simple man.
Telling that they’re outraged, and find ‘racist’, a song that warns against assaulting everyday citizens and law enforcement officers. Why would that be?
That’s a great point you and other FRiends are pushing around about who is being the racist here. Aldean only pointed his finger at people who are committing these atrocities. Nobody said anything about what brand they are wearing.
There is nothing to defend.
Is this country song racist? (Key and Peele)

I hope these snowflakes never discover David Allen Coe.

+1
Obviously, Jason Aldean ain’t woke.
