Jason Aldean defended himself Tuesday after CMT pulled the controversial music video for his song “Try That in a Small Town” from its rotation amid accusations it is pro-lynching and racist.
“In the past 24 hours I have been accused of releasing a pro-lynching song (a song that has been out since May) and was subject to the comparison that I (direct quote) was not too pleased with the nationwide BLM protests,” Aldean, 46, wrote in a statement posted to his Instagram Story. “These references are not only meritless, but dangerous.”
In the first verse, Aldean sings: “Sucker punch somebody on a sidewalk / Carjack an old lady at a red light / Pull a gun on the owner of a liquor store / Ya think it’s cool, well, act a fool if ya like.”

And what is wrong with these lyrics?
Was telling some folks just the other day about a druggie that tried to rob a Waffle House - yeah, that's not too smart to try.
Small towns are not like big cities, for a reason.
CMT ain’t country no more...
Go woke, Go Broke,
Time to treat CMT a lesson as in a nationwide boycott of them until they apologize to Aldean and America for being fools and cowards.
They are off my watching list.
Perhaps we need a stronger, New pro-American country music organization/channel.
From what I’ve read, lots of rap lyrics celebrate murder. And that’s okay?
CMT pulls Jason Aldean’s new ‘Try That in a Small Town’ music video after star denies it is a ‘pro-lynching song’ and criticizes BLM
While I'm no expert on country music, it seems to have been going downhill for a while.
Murder, rape, gang activity, drugs, anti-white in many cases, but rap is okay by social standards apparently.
Any time the left finds something they don’t like, they immediately trot out racist tropes: lynching, slavery, etc. it’s become so unoriginal. I think most of us have become numb to it.
Never!
How many of the patrons drew down on him?
The last time I was in a Waffle House, I strongly suspect 3/3 people at my table were carrying.
In other words - pick on someone your own size in our town. Just make sure the undertaker has your measurements first.
The song is all truth and they hate truth.
Stick to mama, jail, trains, guitars and pickup trucks;)
Considering the state of America’s judicial system that appears to be
lacking justice. Old fashioned lynching doesn’t seem like such a bad option.
By the critics and MSM calling out this song as racist, they are admitting who is doing the sucker punching, carjacking, and the robbing of liquor stores.
The corporate moguls have done to country music what they did to rock n roll.
It’s a Paramount/Viacom/MTV organization, so no real suprise. Some pink haired aberration probably complained to the company and, voila! banned.
CC
BINGO!! You nailed it.
By the critics and MSM calling out this song as racist, they are OPENLY ADMITTING who is doing the sucker punching, carjacking, and the robbing of liquor stores.
Funny thing, the more “they” complain about this song the wider the “truth” in this song spreads.
Hank Williams Jr “A Country Boy Can Survive” 1982
I had a good friend in New York City
He never called me by my name, just hillbilly
My grandpa taught me how to live off the land
And his taught him to be a businessman
He used to send me pictures of the Broadway nights
And I’d send him some homemade wine
But he was killed by a man with a switchblade knife
For 43 dollars my friend lost his life
I’d love to spit some beech nut in that dude’s eyes
And shoot him with my old .45
‘Cause a country boy can survive
Country folks can survive
