Fans of the historical drama “The Chosen” are rejoicing. The series has been granted a waiver from SAG-AFTRA to continue filming amid the ongoing strike.
This means the Jesus of Nazareth series only missed a day or two of filming, Deadline reported. The cast includes several SAG members, including Jonathan Roumie, who plays Jesus.
The series is the first known TV show to be granted an exemption from the Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, which counts some of Hollywood’s biggest stars among its many members.
On Saturday, “The Chosen” creator Dallas Jenkins took to Instagram to plead with SAG for an exemption.
“We’ve submitted all the requested paperwork immediately. We fit all qualifications for an exemption. Every day that goes by without your response costs us hundreds of thousands of dollars while your actors are stuck in Utah. We’re the good guys. We’ve treated your actors well,” he wrote.

It’s because the gays have a beachhead in the production and we wouldn’t want to stop the abasement of Christianity, would we?
How about that.
Dont care
Not watching any of the bilge pumped out of that place anymore.
It’s a writers strike. Hasn’t the gospel already been written. They are just tweaking it for tv.
Exactly.
You mean the guy who joked about YESHUA winking at Joseph Smith?
It was worse than that. See above.
Saw that.
My wife and I were invited to our neighbors house to watch an episode last winter (the healing of the man at the pool of Bethesda).
Afterwards, they asked us what we thought. We were polite, but I said the need to make up stuff, in order to have an hour long episode, can lead the viewer off course, possibly missing a key teaching or doctrine.
And yes, the transfiguration is a big deal.
Makes perfect sense to any believer who has followed the first three seasons.
The Screen Actors Guild (SAG) is on strike also.
It makes no sense at all if this is supposed to be Biblical.
“Our” Story - pretty much says it all.
Why did you ignore the second part?
Glad I never got wrapped up in this so I would not feel any loyalty towards this and then try to justify all of this.
True that.
Rather, this is a new concept: they are focusing in-depth (fifty-six episodes) on what it might have been like to be one of the early disciples of Jesus, one of "the chosen". The writers include Gospel events which advance that story, culminating with the crucifixion in Season 6 and the ascension in Season 7. Along with many other Gospel events, the Transfiguration didn't make the cut.
Oh, we could tell that. Especially given the producer's fondness for Mormonism and other very questionable statements. It is something that never should have been made.
You don't find it disturbing he uses the crucifixion to tell jokes?
Apparently, you do not belong to their target audience. Let’s leave it at that.
