San Francisco stores lock up frozen food to deter shoplifters

Buying a microwave dinner in San Francisco now requires a security clearance.

Frozen food customers in the crime-plagued city have been forced to put their purchases on ice and find a clerk to unlock chained coolers, as retailers take drastic measures to keep shoplifters at bay.

The doors in the frozen foods section at one local Walgreens are seen locked from the customers, who apparently need the staff’s assistance to access the products.

“Workers said normally shoplifters clean out all the pizza and ice cream every night. They’re usually hit 20x a day. The whole store is virtually locked up,” KPIX’s Betty Yu tweeted Monday.

Won’t be long before these people start assaulting those Walgreens employees and taking the keys from them. Once that starts happening, it will turn into all drive in window or the store will be shut down.

As always, the innocent, honest people are made to suffer and pay, while the guilty criminals are allowed to do as they please.

If criminals were made to pay for their crimes, there would be very little crime. Obviously, democrats want more crime.

My Grandfather, RIP, worked for A&P in the early 1930s then opened and ran his own grocery store until retirement. In the early days, you gave the clerks a list at the front counter or told them what you wanted if you could not write, and they assembled and packaged your list to take home or be delivered to you. Are we going back to that now?

I first saw that in a Walmart in LA back about 2019.

It’s crazy and an indicator of serious decline in civilization.

One of the hallmarks of Western civilization to basic honesty and self restraint. You can have a supermarket with food and goods openly displayed for people to reach out and put in their cart.

In the third world, anything that is not locked down is stolen. Even locked down stuff of minimal value gets stolen, often with major damage to the site of the theft. That is where we are headed these days.

Job applications were apparently not stolen during the melee.

No, it is not an indicator of civilization in decline.

California has allowed the ferrals to run wild. Kissing Black Ass is absolutely required to maintain the grip on political power.

The venue is California.

Another possibility are more stores where payment happens automatically, like this: https://www.retail-week.com/grocery/amazon-unveils-automatic-payment-enabled-grocery-store/7016562.article.

The old General Store way. That could also be dangerous now.

Maybe the starvation the global regime has in mind will end the store concept forever.

Steal from others or die, or die if you try to steal from others, will become reality. /s (or maybe not /s) lol

In California, it really is a decline in cultural values. The law that enables this theft by legalizing thefts of under $900 was not some law passed by the California Assembly in Sacremento - not even they are crazy enough to vote on that one.

Nope, the legalization of theft was done by a referendum vote on California Proposition 47

“In 2014, Californian voters passed Prop. 47 59.6% to 40.4%, increasing the felony threshold rate for theft in retail establishments from over $400 to over $950, and lowering misdemeanor thefts having jail time limited to a maximum of 6 months. Since its passage, numerous attempts have been made to repeal it. Prop. 47, flagrantly titled “The Safe Neighborhoods and Schools Act,” also decriminalized drug possession from a felony to a misdemeanor, removing law enforcement's ability to make an arrest in most circumstances, as well as removing judges’ ability to order drug rehabilitation programs rather than incarceration, the Globe reported.”

Prop 47 is how the current homeless disaster and theft crime wave was enabled - and a plurality of California voters openly, knowingly and willfully voted in it.

Can you imagine the danger to people after they walk out the door of a place like that?

The criminals who aren’t going to pay for the loot will be robbing or killing people and stealing their purchases.

What a mess this is.
