MTA to spend $50M on 5 free bus routes across NYC, boosted subway service

Come on and take a free ride!

Five Big Apple bus routes will be free starting in late September, in part to monitor ridership numbers on transit lines with high fare evasion.

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s troubleshooting plan is part of a $50 million state pilot pushed hard by progressives in Albany.

The funding also boosts the number of trains running on the No. 1, No. 6, C, N and R trains by 20 percent during the middays and on weekends.

“The MTA is the lifeblood of New York City, and I’m proud of the tremendous progress we’ve made in returning ridership to pre-pandemic levels,” said Gov. Kathy Hochul.

So the MTA is at it again, this time in New York City.
Somebody ought to notify the Kingston Trio.

Absolutely classical dimmocrap solution to a problem: eliminate the standards, then no one can fail.

This is slightly off topic as it pertains to public busses in a major ND town where we go to shop often. I took notice a couple years ago that the numerous busses the city has running around has zero passengers and makes no pickup or drop off stops. Every time I see one of those public busses it’s empty except for the driver. It’s such a waste of resources that it must be federally subsidized to keep such a scam going. Public transportation is such a joke.

Public transpo exists to create bureaucracy and bleed taxpayers dry, not to serve the public.

You could probably call an Uber for every passenger ride and come out cheaper.

The TBTA toll gold mine goes to the mass transit side of the MTA so the motorists pay through the nose for tolls.

What’s the big deal? It’s not like NYC has a fiscal problem.

Yes, he's still around.

Dr Demento was one of my favorite radio shows growing up. My mother hated when I listened to it so I had to put in the earplugs and take my transistor radio to the bedroom in order to hear it.

I came across a song that Demento played a lot a just this past weekend. Hadn't heard it in over 40 years. Even more amazingly, I just learned that the song was written by Ace Frehley, the guitarist for KISS.

For readers that know little to nothing about the size of the NYC subway system.

https://www.urbanrail.net/am/nyrk/new-york.htm

You can see - on the map at that link - the routes of the subway lines mentioned in the article.
