Suumit Shah, a 31-year-old CEO of an e-commerce platform called Dukaan based in India, is getting torn to shreds online for firing 90 percent of the company's customer support staff after arguing that an AI chatbot had outperformed them.
It was an unusually callous announcement that clearly didn't sit well with plenty of netizens, as Insider reports.
"We had to layoff [sic] 90 percent of our support team because of this AI chatbot," he tweeted. "Tough? Yes. Necessary? Absolutely."
In a lengthy Twitter thread laden with screenshots from action movies such as "iRobot" and "Limitless," Shah argued that response times plummeted from over two hours to less than two minutes thanks to the AI chatbot.

Wait until AI gets hacked or turns on the guy.

And the people in the C-suite want to keep getting bonuses for improving the company's 'efficiency'.
If they don’t have jobs pretending to speak engrish there they will be looking for a handout here.
On the other hand, what are people supposed to do for a living?

The speak real English or Indian broken English?
Shareholders are only the excuse. The reason is bonuses for management. The greedy bastards just can’t get enough.

Nope. There is a sucker born every minute, sucker. The market also pays PE ratios of 80+, so there is that too. The stock market in no way is about investments, technology reviews, or anything you think it is. It is merely gambling that someone else will pay you more than you paid.
So no more straining to understand “Kevin” or “Sally” who are stationed in Bangalore. Instead we will be contending with a program that has no clue what it’s doing and gives wrong results some of the time but no one cares.
My advice: make sure that you have a physical presence at work, and that your job requires a physical body.
I learned this even beforehand -- during COVID, when my institution closed down and I suddenly questioned my viability. I had to make myself "useful" behind a computer all day. (Actually, it helped me to learn new skills.) Coming back to work 5 months later, I immersed myself in "hands-on" work to enhance my value.
People, especially the younger generation, who insist on working remotely and refuse to come into the office might find themselves the first to go. Out of sight, out of mind.
Okay, so some things stay the same.
I think our Xfinity smoke alarm gets sent through India. Twice I have gotten calls in my downstairs office and can’t understand the caller so I just hangup figuring it is spam.
Until my wife runs downstairs and says the fire department is here because the smoke alarm went off while she was cooking upstairs!
Disconnected the smoke alarm after the second time.

Every road, every building, every vehicle you see, every house, every airplane flying over head, every job, every hospital, everything!
And ask about your preferred pronouns.
AI will be like asking a tecnical question of young people at the hardware store. You get an answer but it is wrong................
