My advice: make sure that you have a physical presence at work, and that your job requires a physical body.
I learned this even beforehand -- during COVID, when my institution closed down and I suddenly questioned my viability. I had to make myself "useful" behind a computer all day. (Actually, it helped me to learn new skills.) Coming back to work 5 months later, I immersed myself in "hands-on" work to enhance my value.
People, especially the younger generation, who insist on working remotely and refuse to come into the office might find themselves the first to go. Out of sight, out of mind.
