On Wednesday’s broadcast of NBC’s “MTP Now,” host Chuck Todd and NBC News Business and Data Reporter Brian Cheung discussed the latest inflation report and noted that prices aren’t falling, they’re just “going up by a slower rate,” and are “higher than pre-pandemic during the Trump administration as well.”
Todd said that while the report is “good” news, “It doesn’t mean that prices still aren’t going up. They are.”
He added, “The good news is, prices are going up slower. This doesn’t mean prices have somehow dipped below where they were say, two years ago at this time.”
Cheung responded, “[P]rices are still going up. They’re just going up by a slower rate, which implies that some things are getting cheaper, while other things are still getting more expensive.”
He added that costs increased for the month for food, energy, and “shelter, which is the largest cost for most Americans, just the cost of putting a roof over your head.”

I see the main stream rocket doctors are analyzing the economy again.
Right, it’s not that consumers are drowning, their just drowning at a slower rare. Success!
Grocery store inflation is mostly caused by covering loses from inner city theft.
Raise your hand if you remember when regular gas was $2.11 gallon or less and the national strategic petroleum reserve was 3/4 full with 635 million barrels of oil ….
The Lying Main Stream Media always covers for Democrats.
Especially the disastrous Joe Biden Administration.
Someone last week said, that it’s like saying that over the past 2yrs they gained 40 Lbs, but this year it looks like they’re only going to gain 15.
Ya don’t say.
You continue to bleed, but much less than before.
You have less, but it is less "less" than before. See?
I would suggest that anyone with a Biden voter for a spouse stop putting fuel in the car for her. Point of sale fuel prices are the harshest interface of the economy. An “in your face” reflection of reality. No one, no one, can argue against that.
“Oh, it’s not so bad”, then YOU pay for it.
Raise your hand if you remember when a chuck roast was $8.00 instead of $18.
WAl Mart plain white sandwich bread was 84 cents.
On 6/28 it was $1.38==64% increase.
I tnink I get your point. More or less.
I was at the grocery store last night and was shocked at the price of cereal! $7.99 for a box of Frosted Mini Wheats! Unbelievable!! Same price for Raisin Bran, and a few other favorites.
