Tesla announced that it delivered 466,140 electric vehicles in its second quarter — “more than 80 percent higher” than the year before.
This comes after Tesla CEO Elon Musk decided to lower prices in order to boost sales and rival competitive manufacturers, BBC reported. “We’re not ‘starting a price war’, we’re just lowering prices to enable affordability at scale,” Musk wrote on Twitter.

That includes government subsidies and subsidized resale values.
Nothing but overpriced golf carts.
10 years to break even . . .
Based on what?
Today’s situation and who’s prediction of the next 10 years?
They can’t predict the next 10 minutes.
Shocking.
Don't pay cash, make sure you charge it.

Battery failure is a huge expense. Pickups having range failure when loaded. Huge.
After 10 years one will need to replace the battery. Today’s costs are $5,000 to $20,000.
3-4 years actually.

Let the market rule.
Let the USA go back to self sufficiency on oil and gas.
I wonder if anyone has done a time/cost analysis on EV’s vs. ICE.
Consider it can take hours to recharge. And recharging must be done every 200-300 miles.
I wonder how many hours/days/months the average EV owners spends waiting.
Big issue is a Battery replacement is not an if, but when on these.
Plenty of cars out there go 200k+ on the original Transmission and Engine.
in the above it can be the car gets totaled before the engine gives out
Live in the Villages, fine.
Gotta haul some stuff Cross Country, not so much.
Ten years? That should be about when you have to replace the battery.
I am in Vietnam, there is an electric car which is reportedly going to start selling here in two and a half months…
Now it is small, but a full real automobile.
Tariffs included (since it will actually be built in Vietnam) for less than $5000.
Not shabby
“Ten years? That should be about when you have to replace the battery.”
A friend bought his first Tesla Model S in 2014. When he traded it in for a 2021 Model S the 2014’s battery was still charging at over 80%. The 2021 has an improved battery and will do even better.
And 15 to alleviate the environmental impact.

Needed a commuter vehicle because I was driving high mileage that I didn’t want on my truck.
Looked at the options
Prius $42k...45mpg
Yaris $14k (including $1k in upgrades)...39mpg and that was even after I slammed it down 1.5” with rock solid suspension, mags, exhaust, short shift kit and cold air intake.
The math was so easy in this decision.
Liberals are so stupid in thier short-sighted virtue signaling.
“3-4 years actually”
I have an all electric Hyundai Ioniq 5. It is just so comfortable and fun to drive I would not know what to compare it too. Let’s just say a Honda Accord. Then the break even would happen around 3-4 years. 5-6 without the $7500 tax break. I love it for the comfort and technology.
Oversized electric golf cart fanboyz will not be pleased with you posting this.
The EV vs ICE vehicle debate was settled by 1920. EV’s had basically the same issues then as they do now. The big upside in 1920 is that your EV might not burn your house down.
