The escalatory move is also an admission of Ukraine's failure, a senior Russian diplomat has said
The US decision to include cluster munitions in its latest batch of military aid to Kiev is an admission of failure and a desperate attempt to stave off defeat, Russian ambassador to Washington, Anatoly Antonov, said on Friday.
"Cluster munitions are a gesture of desperation. Such a measure speaks of the awareness of the United States and its satellites of their impotence," Antonov told reporters. "However, they do not want to admit their own setbacks and the failure of the Ukrainian military's attempts to carry out an offensive against the Russian regions. Therefore, they commit new acts of madness."
Washington continues to raise the stakes in the conflict "with tenacity worthy of a better use," Antonov noted, calling the current level of US provocations "really off the scale, bringing humanity closer to a new world war."
"What's striking is the cruelty and cynicism with which Washington approached the issue of transferring deadly weapons to Kiev," the ambassador said. "The administration completely ignored the arguments about the inhumanity of such a step voiced by experts, human rights activists and lawmakers, turning a blind eye to civilian casualties. Now, through the fault of the United States, for many years there will be a risk that innocent civilians will be blown up by malfunctioning submunitions."
3 tours. Two were Bosnia.
Minus the muktar Bosniacs whom we helped (we have a habit of helping the wrong side) people would of been happy for Russians there.
Long and complex talk, but not everyone thinks we’re the good guys.
Russia destroying Ukr tanks with Lancet drones is an act of desperation. Cluster bombs won’t stop this.
War is desperation which is why we need peace:

If Russia was concentrating on industrial capacity I would say that’s fair in war, but majority of any capacity destroyed has been through the invasion process. Vast majority of long range munitions have been directed at civilian targets so pass on that argument
It’s ok.
People of low IQ should be pitied and handled with care. It’s not their fault they were born handicapped and then think they should chime in on world affairs when they should be enjoying the outside air in the playground at recess. Just think, in another 7 years maybe they’ll get past grade 6.
Joking aside, I don’t worry about these idjits think or say about me. I care about my fellow Albertans and their freedom. I care about my real American neighbours and their freedom. I care about the attacks on our rights, our families and our little ones. I care about our govs letting us be overrun by immigrants we don’t want or need. There’s many things to care about, people like that guy don’t even get on the list.
We as in US have not banned their use and neither has Russia so don’t get your point
Spain is assisting Ukraine. Total European assistance to Ukraine is only a little less than that of the US. And everybody has deficits and national debt.
And in every case it is the fault of their own governments being improvement with domestic spending. US deficit spending is entirely due to this, not the pittance spent on Ukraine.
I have long urged Americans to do their homework regarding their fiscal position, local state and federal. Universally they don’t bother. Its as if ignorance is a positive quality.
So the nearly endless examples of Russian vehicles repeated running over mines, in repeated attacks over same mine fields shows competence?
You will note that one event has not been repeated en mass like the Russians have so your point is false
And the other tour?
Ex Yugoslavia is a special case. The Serbs wanted to dominate the others, in effect they wanted to be an ethnic colonial power, and Russia would have enabled that. It was an evil ambition.
But Serbia is not Poland or Lithuania or etc.
Provide a link to Spain's assistance to Ukraine, and I don't care about Spain's debt. I'm an American, this is America. That's my focus.
Improvident.
Spell check is a plot against the eloquent.
Did you just call Americans ignorant?
Your missing the point, Russia is right In everything they do, and if Ukraine fights back it’s “desperation “
While Russia has/had a much larger military, Air Force, long range munitions…., Ukraine getting long range munitions, modern aircraft, cluster munitions, and the ability to fight back in a more level playing field, hitting Russian logistics, munition depots and industrial capacity is unfair and desperate.
The “logic” is unchallengeable/s
If the US is such a narrow focus for you I suggest you limit yourself to domestic policy issues, like the costs of medical care and the inadequacy and absurd cost of education.
I am certain I know vastly more about your domestic problems than you do. Which should cripple you with shame. Think about it.
You must have missed the many videos and pictures of Ukrainian WWI style trenches. The Russians are using small drones to target the Ukrainians with their artillery.
How about you limit yourself to Spain's problems, such as poverty, human rights violations and pedophilia.
There it is the truth, not about international bans, civilian casualties ( because Russia really cares about that) due to UXOs, it is about an effective weapon finally being given and Russia is terrified.
With relatively small amounts of modern western weapons Ukraine been reversing “2nd greatest military…” advances, and Russia has been struggling ever since.
Cluster munitions, long range systems, anti ship systems, air defense systems … Russia has no answer
Well, yourself for one. And an awful lot of Americans too, yes. Consider the vast numbers that vote Democrat, just to start.
And even in FR almost no-one bothers to acquaint themselves with the structure and details of their government spending, of their macroeconomic position (other than sound bites), and of doing minimal research on any question, before spouting off.
And, worse, because it is close to treason and blasphemy, hardly anyone here, a politically committed venue, knows anything at all about their own ideology. Tell me, truthfully, that you have read Russell Kirk.
I would say the results so far show russia is weak and a lot weaker since feb 22
But I guess glorious advances to the rear is winning
Sigh
Right, because Ukrainians defending their families, homes and towns from Putin's invasion and annexation, are the bad guys. Okay
Russians are in panic mode as they see their troops slaughtered with no ability to fight back.
