California, truck manufacturers strike deal on zero-emission plan
The Hill ^ | 07/06/2023 | SHARON UDASIN

California and some of the nation’s biggest truck manufacturers have reached an agreement aimed at smoothening the industry’s transition to 100 percent zero-emission sales by 2036.

The plan announced Thursday incorporates measures that help the trucking industry meet California’s emissions requirements while enabling the state to simultaneously reach its climate goals, according to those involved. In striking this compromise, the state averts a potential legal battle with major truck manufacturers, who have long been challenging California’s unmatched emissions requirements as technologically and economically unfeasible.

“Why cave to this moron Gavin”

They always do. Sounds like basically a huge tax grab by California.

Is there a legal definition for “zero-emissions”? Technically even walking bare foot and buck naked wouldn’t be zero since you require a calorie intake to produce the energy. This intake can produce unfavorable byproducts like carbon dioxide and methane which seems to drive these people absolutely crazy.

From the article: "As part of the deal announced Thursday, California’s regulatory body has agreed to modify elements of its 2024 nitrogen oxide emission regulations, while manufacturers will provide offsets to maintain the state’s emission targets."

I believe "provide offsets" is a euphemism for saying "pay carbon taxes" to California. In other words, it's like the Muslim jizya tax or mafia protection money.

Many, many moons ago, Kalifornia Governor Grey Davis and the DemocRATS mandated that 10% of all cars sold in Kalifornia be electric. When, of course, the public did not comply, Davis and the RATS bought enough vehicles (for State use supposedly) to reach the 10% threshold.

Now the State and Federal RATS are using taxpayer dollars, subsidies, to increase EV sales.

Someday the RATS will probably propose a used-EV subsidy, as there will be no ‘market’ without subsidies.

By 2036 most of the companies will be long gone—gives them plenty of time to plan their exit.

Sounds like the trucking manufacturers have agreed to slowly commit suicide.

What is a zero emissions vehicle except one that doesn’t move anywhere.

Rumor has it that Union pacific has a few steam engines left, and they are retrofitting them to burn waste oil(cheaper then diesel) to run solely in CA, so they won’t have to comply with the bs regulations on diesels.

You have to lie to a hack until he’s out of office to get them off your back.

Then back to normal and repeat.

The only deal they should strike is "We are OUT of California. Enjoy delivering everything on pedal powered delivery trucks. Maybe you can get Gavin to operate one for you. Ask him to make some cool Vroom-Vroom noises."
