O'Brien scolds Asian American activist that 'civil rights paved the way for your family'
HBO correspondent Soledad O’Brien is getting blasted as racist on Twitter after she attacked a prominent Asian American activist for "screwing over other people of color" in her fight against affirmative action.
In a 6-3 decision on Thursday, the Supreme Court ruled that using race as a factor in college admissions violated the 14th Amendment's equal protection clause. After the ruling, many Asian Americans, including Asian Wave Alliance President Yiatin Chu, celebrated the decision as a step towards equal treatment at major universities.
"I told my daughter that today is a big day. They’ve ended affirmative action. ‘Isn’t it what you’re been fighting for?’ she asked. I said yes," Chu tweeted. O’Brien, a former CNN anchor who now hosts and produces her own talk show on FYI and serves as a correspondent on "HBO’s Real Sports With Bryant Gumbel," accused Chu of "screwing over" those whose civil rights efforts "paved the way" for people like Chu.

“...”screwing over other people of color” in her fight against affirmative action.
Asians are only colored when it’s time for them to vote. When it comes to affirmative action, they’re no longer colored. It is racist for Asians to notice this.
Marie O’Brien’s parents met while they were teaching at Johns Hopkins. Her father is an aerospace PHD from Australia, and her mother was a Spanish instructor. She grew up in Smithtown Long Island, one of the swankiest ZIP codes in America, while her father worked for Grumman. She started to call herself Soledad O’Brien to advance her media career, she has no more street cred than Chelsea Clinton, who never cared about money.
Soledad is Spanish for "solitude". Her birth name is Maria del Soledad, "Mary, of Soletude", but she was known as Maria, and old adopted the Soledad moniker to advance her media career. It gave her a completely phony "third world" vibe. She a child of utter and unremitting privilege.
Indeed. My own orphaned Irish grandma was an indentured servant, to a family of wealthy Cherokee. My grandfather bought her at 16 for $100 and married her.
We all have a story, Solidad.
Or Soleroid — comes in cream or ointment…
God-given Human Rights over Manmade Civil Rights, yet the Asian Americans are racist here? MLK is spinning in his grave.
She has been a bitter Leftist since day one on NBC.
Some folks wrote in saying she was vert attractive, and she melted down
furiously.
