One of the few advantages that come with age – and believe me, there aren’t many – is that one can look back at all the predictions made by futurists that turned out to be wrong. I am still waiting to travel in my flying car or by jet pack. Unless I missed the news, we still have not colonized the moon or Mars. And those colonies at the bottom of the ocean have yet to materialize.
One area where it seems that seems particularly wrought with inaccurate predictions is climate. In the 1960s we were all going to die from famine driven by overpopulation. We were heading for a new ice age in the 1970s. The oceans were going to be void of fish and the hole in the ozone layer was going to kill us all. Then we started to hear about global warming and the predictions became even more dire. When that didn’t happen, the green mafia coined the phrase "climate change" to basically blame any natural disaster or unusual weather event as yet another human-driven greed and gluttony.

no such thing as an unusual weather event.
um, not only have we not COLONIZED the moon....we .......
Climate Change is a cult religion with an unquestionable dogma and its own Inquisition to persecute heretics i.e.,“deniers”. There is nothing that its adherents won’t believe as long as it fits their orthodoxy. For example Al Gore’s maniacal ravings about boiling oceans or Greta Thunberg’s absurd predictions that have not come true are fully accepted by the climate change faithful. Unfortunately Climate Change cultists have become the useful idiots for Marxists who would use them to bring about the collapse of capitalism and the establishment of a totalitarian world order.
Enjoy your monthly 90-second shower.
and add another brick to your toilet.
In the 1970s we were told that all the lakes in the Adirondacks were going to be forever sterile because of the Sulfur Dioxide put out by all those coal fired power plants in OH/PA. They would never have fish in them again, EVER.
This was around the same time(1977-78) that we were told about the coming Ice Age because the blizzard we had in Buffalo and then in Boston the next winter.
Then just recently, we were told how Fracking was bad. It would contaminate the ground water. So, NY banned the practice. Another reason why I am so glad I moved to NH in 1985.
How can they lose what they never possessed?
I remember that from the Earth Day speeches in DC many years ago. All the big brain entertainers could come up with to save the ERF was put a brick in your 5 gallon toilet.
“We were heading for a new ice age...”
As Earth continues on its Journey Through Time and Space we will continue to have glacial and interglacial periods just like in the past, and yes we are headed for another Ice Age... or should I say YET another Ice Age, because it’s cyclic.
That reminds me of the Seinfeld episode where Newman and Kramer had “black market” shower heads. The type that were NOT the “low flow” type that had recently been installed in their building.
There have been numerous ice ages in earth’s history.
My unanswered question is, how did all the ice melt as ice ages ended? Clearly it happened due to natural cycles. We do know that man had nothing to do with the end of previous ice ages.

Now we can all share our agreement that this is a misinformed hoax, derived panic, ideological imbroglio driven by people who can’t think their way out of a paper bad and led by nothing but gullible and greedy politicians.
I never in my wildest most fearful dreams ever thought we would see days like these. To be sure, there have been bad times but as insane as these?
Faux News head fake.
They could have reported this 20 years ago and gone after the ManBearPig for his clearly lack of knowledge in basic science.
Faux News is just trying to get back its viewers.
some people, for reasons I don’t understand, love to predict doom. i guess it makes them feel important.
why was chicken little the way he was?

Its like click bait today.
Back in the 1970s it was people like Carl Sagan that would make these crazy predictions to get people to watch his various specials/appearances.
Today’s version is people that get paid by various internet platforms based on the number of visits/subscribers like YouTube.
Why do so many YouTube channels have pictures of pretty girls on them? Sex sells. It gets people to watch them even for a couple minutes.
Same with people that make incredible claims about the real estate market or that the stock market is going to CRASH. They make money off of clicks and subscribers, not whether their predictions are correct. Some channels make $300K-400K or more if you can get up close to one million subscribers. Especially when you get sponsors.
