Could we see the return of the Commander in Tweets?
According to an Axios report, former President and 2024 GOP frontrunner Donald Trump is plotting a comeback to the blue bird after a nearly 2 1/2 year hiatus.
Trump’s account is still active, thanks to CEO Elon Musk, and he has 87 million followers.

As Trump tries to reclaim the White House while fighting off felony charges, people close to his team think he’ll eventually get back on Twitter — and that when he does, it will be with showmanship and a purpose.
A person close to Trump’s campaign cast the ex-president’s Twitter return as a tool his team could use to try to offset bad news — another indictment, for example.
That was the strategy this month in Miami, after Trump was arraigned on federal charges of mishandling classified documents. He blasted complaints on Truth Social, stopped by a popular Cuban restaurant, and later skewered his critics in a speech at his golf club in Bedminster, N.J.
“President Trump needs to make Twitter great again. I want him to get back on before the presidential campaign heats up,” says Mike Davis, a Trump ally and founder of The Article III Project, a conservative legal group.
“From a business perspective, it’s very smart he’s only on Truth. From a political perspective, he needs to be on Twitter.”

All he has to do is link his Truth Social to Twitter so the same posts are on both.

Might be a bad business move, since he is invested in their rival, but it would be a good political move, since he’ll get a much bigger audience, including many more mainstream, less political types.
Plus, it puts Elon to the test. Will he walk the free speech walk and let his business rival Trump use his platform to compete against his apparent preferred candidate DeSantis? Or will he put his thumb on the scale? We shall see.
I am surprised it’s taken this long. Once you are a candidate you need to speak to as many people as you can, limiting yourself to just 1 outlet is self defeating

Elon has already put his finger on the scales with the DeSantis team weaponization of “community notes”. Banning and censorship has increased notably since the WEF CEO came on board- as we get closer to the election, pro-Trump accounts will be suspended and silenced.
More than likely that's all he will do. He is a financial investor in Truth Social, so it was in his best business interest to stay exclusive to Truth. His Truths always found their way to Twitter by others, so he still has exposure there.
But if Truth Social is circling the drain on the brink of bankruptcy, then I can understand Trump's move to Twitter before that happens.
Because if Trump leaves Truth Social, it will collapse. He is their number one draw, and losing Trump will be like Fox losing Tucker Carlson.
A former President was banned from all of main social media platforms in 2021 for political reasons so he had to create his own platform. His exclusivity deal with Truth Social just ended this month. So give him a minute to get the timing of the comeback right. And him leaving wasn’t his fault to begin with.
And as regards the phrase, ‘How sweet it is!’ I miss Jackie Gleason the originator of that phrase, or at least the one who made it a popular one.
I was thinking of the theme for the honeymooners and then his lovely tune he created this morning, which made me a little sad, a little nostalgic for him, making me think of my father who also loved his shows.

Not sure what you mean. Community notes are produced by users. The Trump team should be just as capable of “weaponizing” them as the DeSantis team. Perhaps they just haven’t bothered?

While you may be confident in your ability to predict the future, I do not share your confidence, so I’ll wait to see if it actually happens.
