41% of US adults approve of Biden. Here’s what a new poll tells us about the president

WASHINGTON (AP) — An improved U.S. economy has done little so far to improve support for President Joe Biden, according to a new poll from The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research.

A summary of the survey’s findings and what they tell us about how the country is feeling about the Biden administration:

DEMOCRATIC SUPPORT RELATIVELY WEAK

A majority of Democrats back the president’s work, but the figures are relatively low for a candidate who will need their votes in 2024.

NO TRACTION WITH REPUBLICANS

Republicans are unimpressed, with only one in 10 approving of the president’s performance.

BIDEN FARES BETTER ON NON-ECONOMIC ISSUES

The poll shows that 40% of Americans approve of how Biden is handling foreign policy, including 69% of Democrats and 14% of Republicans.

NOT A LOT OF SUPPORT FOR VICE PRESIDENT HARRIS

The poll found that 37% of adults have a favorable opinion of her and 50% have an unfavorable opinion, with 12% saying they don’t know enough about her to say.

ECONOMY STILL SEEN AS WEAK

People are feeling a bit better about the U.S. economy, but feelings are still negative. Seven in 10 say they think economic conditions are poor.

NOT A LOT OF CHANGE IN BIDEN’S POLLING

The president’s polling numbers have not budged much in the past 18 months. That seems notable as events have made little difference so far in how the public feels.

They are setting up to push him out. IF they run Newsome, then he will be the young one.

I would bet my allowance (if I got an allowance) that the Dems have no plans to actually run Biden in 24, and that it's a ruse to keep inquiring minds from asking too many qs about the people that are being groomed. (No proof, just a guess.)

Then, they could avoid a pesky series of debates altogether (all while they extol their new favorite term "democracy", hah!)

Unfortunately, much of our elections revolve around optics and sound bites. Those favor Newsom over Trump (with a truly dissolute appearance and a 747's worth of baggage of his own making) with the low info voters.

If that poll is accurate, 40 percent approve of Biden, then the country is lost. That degree of stupidity cannot maintain a functioning nation.

This AP-NORC poll is not what people think it is. This is not likely voters, registered voters, or even voters at all, it is something entirely different from all of that. It includes a cross section of Adults RESIDENT in the United States, which would include citizens, legal and illegal aliens, etc., the only requirement to be included is the respondent is over 18 years old. It also means that it tends to favor those people who have time on their hands during the month to respond to an extensive on-line poll on multiple topics that can take quite a period of time. This is intrusive of spare time and more likely to be done by people who do not have more important things to do with their time. Since this is a “panel” exercise, it requires a multi-month commitment to follow through, doing this repeatedly and consistently over an extended period of time. This is unlikely to attract conservative, working people to bother doing.

”The poll of 1,220 adults was conducted June 22-26 using a sample drawn from NORC’s probability-based AmeriSpeak Panel, which is designed to be representative of the U.S. population. The margin of sampling error for all respondents is plus or minus 3.9 percentage points.”

The confidence range of almost 8% over and under the reported ordinal percentage rate reported in the headline is amazing… and they bury the most important thing people base their voting choice, economic conditions, in a link. That rating for President Biden in this pole was 34%, also with a range of confidence range of 8%…. Which means it could be as high as 38% or as low as 30%.

I wonder what specific topic was used against that economic issue was used to pull Biden’s overall approval rating up to 41%? I suspect it was his stance on Abortion among Democrat women only.
