Supreme Court unfreezes Louisiana redistricting case that could boost power of black voters

The Supreme Court on Monday lifted its hold on a Louisiana political remap case, increasing the likelihood that the Republican-dominated state will have to redraw boundary lines to create a second mostly black congressional district.

The development revived Black Louisianans’ optimism of creating a second majority-black district in the Deep South state. For more than a year there has been a legal battle over the GOP-drawn political boundaries, with opponents arguing that the map is unfair and discriminates against black voters. The map, which was used in Louisiana’s November congressional election, has white majorities in five of six districts — despite black people accounting for one-third of the state’s population.

White Republicans hold each of the five mostly white districts. A mostly black district could deliver another congressional seat to Democrats.

“I’m super excited,” Ashley Shelton, head of the Power Coalition for Equity and Justice, one of the groups challenging the maps, said following Monday’s news. “What this does is it puts us back on track to realize a second majority-minority district.” …

I’ve not followed this. Is this a reasoned opinion from the
SCOTUS?

Perhaps a local or someone else who has a pretty food
understanding could give us a thought on it.

...which is a racist outcome but racism against white people, or racism in favor of black people, is legal in this country.

“I’m super excited,” Ashley Shelton, head of the Power Coalition for Equity and Justice, one of the groups challenging the maps, said following Monday’s news. “White people are not racially qualified to represent black people as they cannot understand the struggles of blacks in America. Worry about gun violence in our own neighborhoods, the drugs killing black teens, fear of being killed by the white po-lice, and being looked upon with suspicion each time we walk into a store. White people just cannot understand and are too fragile to be able to represent us effectively”

I called this months ago, just after the nutzoid won the Supreme Court election. I only wonder why it’s taken them this long to get around to it.

Speaking of taking a long time, why are the North Carolina Republicans dragging their feet on redistricting? They won a ruling months ago which allows them to undo the illegal partisan Democrat gerrymander which was forced upon the state by the previous (Democrat) court — it’s the exact opposite of the Wisconsin situation.

Redistricting used to be a once-a-decade thing for the most part; nowadays it never ends until the Democrats get their way (just like counting votes in a close election).

In NC the GOP has a chance to eliminate 2 Democrats, maybe more if they get greedy. It’s the party’s ONLY chance to make gains in any state.

OTOH, Republicans are already screwed in Alabama (-1 seat), Louisiana (-1 seat), Wisconsin (at least -1 seat, maybe -2), South Carolina (-1 seat, hopefully Nancy Mace). Ohio will be required to come up with a new map shortly, one which will — big surprise — also be “required” to help Democrats.

And just wait until New York Democrats are allowed to re-implement their hyper-partisan map they tried to force through in 2021. We could be looking at minus FIVE there. Even if the current map is used in 2024 the GOP stands to give back a few of its fluke wins from 2022.

Even before considering typical Democrat vote fraud, the GOP should probably be even-money or better to lose control of the House after the 2024 elections.

What a load.

If enough people of color were still voting ‘Rat, then Deep State wouldn’t have to steal elections.

This redistricting is NOT about empowering people of color.

It’s about empowering Deep State.

Oh, I think white people can understand perfectly. White people have been the victims of black violence for...ever. And... funny how she never mentioned having a fear of being killed by other black people....who are the No. 1 perpetrators of black on black violence.
