The theologically conservative Presbyterian Church in America had its General Assembly last week where they passed Overture 12: Petition Government to End Sex-change Procedures for Minors. The script calls for the denomination to petition the Biden administration to “renounce the sin” of encouraging and entrenching ‘gender-affirming care’ like puberty blockers and surgical intervention in minors.
The overture states that the PCA is “joyfully and confessionally committed to the Bible’s teaching on the complementarity of men and women” and that “medical and social interventions related to so-called sex change procedures are a rejection of God’s design that will prevent his blessing, grace, and joy to be experienced.”
It further calls sex-changes a rejection of science, argues that most minors with body dysphoria will grow out of it once they reach adulthood, condemns the government for removing children from parents who will not affirm their child transitioning, and says that the PCA must “make a stand” against doctors when they violate the Hippocratic Oath by transitioning children.
imagine that 42% support “sex changes for children”

They don’t know their history.
This video series is very good in revealing the role of the church in the American Revolution.
Please watch this series.
42% are ok with mutilating children. This from a so called church. End times - it won’t be long now
Well, that is somewhat encouraging to hear in one respect disheartening to hear overall...the government has been very invasive in Christian morality...illegally so. It is not only the right of churches but the responsibility to resist and be vocal about these horrifically immoral actions the democrats have pushed. God, does not want cowards who remain silent...he wants activists just as he was.
“but because they disagreed that it was the church’s role to petition the government over matters of public policy.” “
No wonder Christian religions are dying. They refuse to fight for their beliefs.
The Muslims, the LGBT mafia on the other hand...
Any group that refuses to defend its interests will inevitably end up in the dustbin of history... and deservedly so.
It’s just a matter of time before it flips. People, women in particular, surrender far to easily in the name of “peace” with our fellow citizens.
No, that is not true. The article said and it was repeated in the post just above yours….. “Though that sounds very close, many Presbyterians opposed it not because they supported sex changes for children, but because they disagreed that it was the church’s role to petition the government over matters of public policy."
Yes, this theonomist despairs of the two kingdom theology weakening the church’s prophetic voice.
Well, she spoke. But 58-42? This is a conservative Bible believing denomination. It’s not that the minority think child sexual mutilation is ok. It’s that they believe that it’s not the church’s job to call the civil magistrate to account. I couldn’t disagree more strongly.
You are wrong….. You did not read the article!
Though that sounds very close, many Presbyterians opposed it not because they supported sex changes for children, but because they disagreed that it was the church’s role to petition the government over matters of public policy.
either the world is standing still, and I am spinning out of control, or much of the world has gone mad.
I have old friends and relatives who will mouth any slogan they hear on cable news, from "The President is a Russian spy" to "we must affirm gender choices of 5 year-olds." I know people who called the FBI to report work colleagues or neighbors, because they suspected these people were in Washington DC on January 6, 2021
30 years ago, these same people would have never considered saying or doing similar things, so I attribute it to constant propaganda and gas-lighting, and a sub-conscious search for protection in the ideas of the herd.
Its either that, or I am going nuts.
I understand that churches don't want to get engaged in government - but all these good Presbyterians feel that allowing society to mutilate children under the guise of a flash-in-the-pan post-modern ideology doesn't rise to the level of "conscience?"
Why not? They’ve been doing it against guns for years.
Actually l did. I do not believe rendering onto Caesar applies to gender mutilation of children.
PCA must be undergoing infiltration by PCUSA types
42% of supposed Christians. We are in end times.
Thank you for sharing the WCF stance. It sounds like a more serious issue may be drift from the Westminster confessional standards.
I’d like to see the reasoning from the Assembly discussion around how WCF 31.4 does *not* apply here.
MY THOUGHT ALSO.
Well, of course it’s not okay to mutilate children…. But you said “42% are ok with mutilating children”, and that was not the case. Most of that 42% were NOT okay with the mutilation, they were voting for a different reason and that’s what the article went on to explain.
However I must say that if I should have had a vote I would agree with the side that won the vote, because you are right that in this case we are not obliged to obey “Caesar”.
I agree with what you are stating here. When I said you are wrong, I was speaking about your saying “42% were in support of sex change for kids”. They were NOT in support of that, they believed they should stay out of sending a letter to congress. I am glad, though, that the other side won the vote.
