States are scrambling to figure out how to keep making money to funnel into road maintenance amid economic struggles in President Joe Biden’s (D) America.
Officials have historically spent gas taxes on roadways, but “the problem that has developed is those taxes are generating less each year due to inflation, fuel efficiency and the rise of electric cars,” Fox Business reported Sunday.
Now, state officials are hoping to somehow replace those taxes, and charging drivers by the mile and not the gallon in the future is one among several proposals

So every highway, street, alley, gravel road, driveway, and parking lot would become a toll road.
“...those taxes are generating less each year due to inflation...”
TAXATION is THEFT! INFLATION is THEFT!
You can check each and every state budget in the nation - the ‘Transportation Fund’ is the one that Socialist Democrats always LOOT to pay for increased Socialism!
Like. Clockwork.
EV mean no gas tax.
Its all about $$$
Think bikes, not “public” transit. They wsnt things going backwards for the “proles”.
What happened to all the billions that were supposedly appropriated for infrastructure?
States will have to start charging by vehicle weight, if they want to keep things fair, because, heavier vehicles cause more damage to the roads; when vehicle weight causes higher taxes, people will either go for the smaller EVs or will opt for ICE vehicles.
Then they need to get rid of the “Gas Tax”.
How does abandoning all of the “ green” bullshit sound? Raise money the old fashioned way.
If you think this is not going to happen in your state think internet sales tax
Plus the feds are constantly raising the MPG on cars and trucks so they are in turn using less gasoline and therefore collecting less taxes. Idiots they are.
All part of the plan to get you on public transportation and out of your car..🤬

That’s exactly the objective, and wait until the dupes who voted for that moron get this news. They will all be wailing and bitching about it but they’re the ones who are at fault.
And win win it screws suburbs and rural areas which tend to be the red areas they will not roll back the gas taxes either they will just add the mile tax.
Taxman by George Harrison
If you drive a car
I’ll tax the street
If you try to sit
I’ll tax your seat
If you get too cold
I’ll tax the heat
If you take a walk
I’ll tax your feet
Taxman!
‘Cause I’m the taxman
Yeah, I’m the taxman
Don’t ask me what I want it for
If you don’t want to pay some more
Sales taxes
Licensing
Registration fees
Insurance
Gas taxation
Toll roads
Parking fees through the roof
Prohibitive vehicle areas (blacked out)
Parking for events that don’t provide parking for vehicles,
- the require you to park and ride
Environ”mental”ists that want freeways dug up and planted
- with daisies
I wonder where this is headed.
The last 15 years my wife and I lived in IL, we had 3 miles of gravel road (round trip) whenever we went somewhere. It was rarely maintained, even though our county taxed us for that. Terribly rough for a flat land road.
In Texas, the state makes up what’s needed for our roads from the general fund - no need to punish people for driving.
And, in Texas, we do not even have an income tax. For other states, it’s FAR EASIER for them to also make up what’s needed, as nearly all do have income taxes.
...so ask yourself, if the solution is so easy, why are the Globalist governors jumping over each other to tax by the mile?
Per gallon tax makes more sense. A Honda Civic isn’t going to wear the road as much as a Cadillac Escalade. And it subsidizes electric vehicles, a government objective.
The real objective here is another tax, in addition to per gallon, not instead of. Comes with more bureaucracy and government jobs and more monitoring of citizens, bonus bonus!
This’ll go over like a fart in Church.
