The Governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis, called Donald Trump ‘an idiot’ before relying on the former President to get him elected as the Governor of Florida in 2018, according to a feature piece published on Ron and his wife Jill “Casey” DeSantis.
During his unremarkable, five-year stint as a Member of the U.S. House of Representatives between 2013 and 2018, DeSantis would spend his time talking to his staff about “the Constitution, baseball, and golf.”
The only times DeSantis joked around with his former staffers were apparently at Trump’s expense: “The one thing they joked about, the former staffer said, was Trump.”
“Ron always said this guy was just an idiot.”
Despite this, Governor DeSantis went on to beg for Trump’s endorsement in the run-up to the Florida gubernatorial election in November 2018, meeting the former President “with tears in his eyes” before asking for “a favor.”
The full feature, which has been described as a “hit piece” by Ron DeSantis’s staffers, can be read here. The campaign, nor the Governor, have denied the allegations.
Your consistent support for communism is noted.
Amen! Agree with every point.
I see mothers and fathers on the sidelines in those disgusting vile parades!
What an insane conclusion!
I think it's important to set the context here. First of all, the Washington Post is the source of the main story here -- and as FReepers we are restricted from extracting editorial directly from the Post and other mainstream newspapers.
The National Pulse merely captured a juicy comment or two from the Post story. The key analysis is contained in the original Washington Post story of June 18th, Tracing the power of Casey DeSantis.
Yes, you're never quite sure what to believe when it comes to Washington Post editorial, particularly a story where many unnamed sources are used.
But the story is timely since Casey DeSantis is not just the governor's wife, but also a kind of chief of staff for Ron DeSantis.
So it's due diligence to learn who Casey DeSantis is: her background and what makes her tick. I'll note that I once heard an audiobook on Ronald Reagan's life that explained the strong role Nancy Reagan played in his career.
So since I believe it to be mostly a judicious exploration of Casey DeSantis as influencer for a aspiring national politician, I recommend FReepers scan the story to gain some perspective as they form their own opinions.
Yes, I’ve read that several times. Not getting your point about Lot’s wife. Maybe it’s just too late at night. I was merely addressing how society affects decisions about legislation. To me, the movie “Brokeback Mountain” seemed to escalate society’s former toleration to acceptance of homosexuals. It wasn’t just one thing, like the sodomy ban being changed.
Since Lawrence v. Texas was a court case, and Texas courts were full of Democrat-appointed judges, it was the activist judiciary that was in charge of that particular item.
As to your assertion that the DeSantis is the pope’s puppet, that’s already been disproved by signing legislation banning fake “girls” from competing in girls’ sports, making sure students’ health issues were not kept from their parents by schools and keeping teachers from discussing gender and sex topics with the children. That’s just some of what he’s been doing that would in all likelihood not please the fake pope in the Vatican.
Is it Trump bots or Trump cultists this week? Which insult sounds funnier, more cutting? I myself sort of preferred being called Trump cultist.
BTW, while picking each other apart to the delights of Jeb Bush and Mitt Romney, the winner here is their uni party and their weaponized three letter agencies.
My vote remains America First. Trump embodies this platform. His previous Administration governed on it. He’s earned my vote, and that’s where my loyalty stays. I’m not alone in this. A massive amount of voters across the nation feel the same way.
I’ve heard the same about Casey DeSantis.
I don’t support politicians with allegiances to foreign nations, sorry.
Circular firing squad at work. Egged-on by FR trolls.
Around two years into Trump’s Presidency a local republican who I have no reason to disbelieve was invited into Washington on a junket. They hit some of the local GOP dives with their host and were shocked to listen to the anti-Trump attitudes of the insider GOP staff and pundits. These people have been playing us for decades and the end is near. Can’t be soon enough.
Your desperation is showing.
I’m not backing Ron no matter how much you slander Trump.
So do I, and those folks are as clueless as it comes.
