GOD WILL NOT LET YOU FALL

My family and I went camping this past summer. We took several hikes down the little river bed as it flowed through the Cuyamaca State Park near our home in San Diego. We stopped for a picnic lunch, and ate with our feet in the cool running water.

As I ate my sandwich, I started tracing a trail through the rocks that shot up into the air in front of us. It was an old habit from days gone by of rock scrambling: no ropes, no hardware, no helmet, no brains! As teenagers, and even into college, my buddies and I would climb the rocks of Big Bend in Texas. I'm sure I'll get in trouble with the folks from safety but I confess...I got up and started to climb; partly to prove something to myself and mostly to show off for my bride of nine years.

Our daughter of fifteen watched me for a bit and started to follow. She caught up with me and we went over the basics. I showed her the path she was to take which involved little skill and kept mom happy. I took the more difficult route and we met at the top. Unless you rappel, getting down is usually more difficult, so I stayed close to Tiffany in order to offer help should she need it. The tendency is to cling to the rock but often it's best to lean out away from it for better balance and stability. As she was coming down, I was below verbally guiding her. She couldn't see the next ledge below her, and was trying her best to stretch in order to touch it while hanging on to the hand hold above. I could see exactly what she needed to do and knew she was capable of doing it. I told her she just had to trust me. With confidence in Dad, she lowered herself the last few inches and fully planted her feet on secure rock. You could see the pride shining in her eyes (and probably, mine too)!

Just think of how many times our heavenly "Dad" is below us; seeing the next step perfectly, even when we are blind to the future. There are times when we simply have to trust God to not let us fall. The more we learn to depend on God the easier it gets to place our lives into those loving hands with confidence. The next time you find your footing somewhat unsure, and the fear of falling looms up from below, remember that God is there for you, anxious to show you the way and guide you one step at a time.

Hey there, Kathy.

Yes, we had a nice steady flow of visitors today after having NONE yesterday. We each only had one tour and the rest of the time was spent “floating”. We had a couple of “repeaters” show up with friends who hadn’t seen the museum before and I always enjoy seeing repeaters.

No rain here yesterday or today but we have storms rolling through tomorrow morning, they say. Bummer. I’ll sleep through them and some could get rowdy. MAYBE if they’re noisy enough, they wake me up. LOL
I was tired when I got home but I HAD to start attacking the yard, so I mowed the front yard. It looks like a hayfield but at least the grass is knocked down. LOL

You aren’t kidding about the wind up there. It’s kickin’ pretty hard at the airports and I had to turn my speakers off. Too loud in the mic.

Good evening, lightman, and a Blessed Lord’s Day to you and yours.

And a blessed Fourth Sunday after Pentecost (Western)/Third Sunday after Pentecost (Orthodox).

Any rain yet?

We got a half inch a few days ago, we need a lot more. I would love to walk in the rain.

Strange weather, indeed...don’t know where the wind came from. Hot, and warmer inside than out. Fans in action. LOL!

Drought broke this week...2 1/4 inches of rain spread out gently over the past four days. Creeks up a little but nothing destructive.

It sounds like a warm front is moving in up there. We get stout winds when they move in here. The wind sure cranked up in a hurry this afternoon, that’s for sure. The gusts make interesting patterns across Lake Hood.

Are the adventurous trying to take off and land?

It’s just breezy here, then all of a sudden a huge gust!

The last handful of corn I threw out a few minutes ago ended up back in my face and on the deck.

There have been a few who’d left earlier, while it was calm, and came back to land. Had to come in from the north since the wind’s out of the south and that’s not the usual fight pattern. It wasn’t very busy, as far as the seaplanes go.

You’re lucky to miss out on the wind that’s blowing by the airports. I guess buildings and trees are cutting your wind a bit. It’s pretty stout out where it’s wide open space. The trees are leaning.

LOL! I can sympathize with you wearing the ducks’ corn. There was a little breeze this evening when I mowed and every now and then it would kick up and I’d have a faceful of grass.

Sure glad it’s not THAT windy here!!

I would be concerned about the possibility of getting knocked over by a gust.

Good morning, E...((HUGS))...and a Blessed Lord’s Day to you and yours.

Looks like Gizmo enjoyed his adventure to Comanche Lake. How was it heat wise? Did you beat the heat?

You boys enjoy your Sunday outing.

Howdy, E,G.C. ((HUGZ))

A pretty day you had over there yesterday though it looks like it was a bit toasty. Gizmo’s tongue was hanging way out. It didn’t seem to put a damper on his fun. :-)

I’m sure you are! I know how much you love wind. LOL

It looks like it’s starting to calm down a little bit now but it’s still blustery. I’ve seen it worse though. I’ve seen whitecaps on the lake a few times but there weren’t any today.

Yes. It went well. The Venue is what we call “Plug and Play”, which means it has its own sound system. That means NO SCHLEPPING A P.A.! Huzzah!

However, the system they have is so advanced it’s like piloting the Space Shuttle.

I got it figured out though, and
did sound” all evening.

LOL...a DEAF person doing Sound. Ha Ha ha.

Everybody seemed to like it so I must have done good. :-)

“There are times when we simply have to trust God to not let us fall. “

I consider this a faulty analogy. God can let what happens happen on transient earth and catch your immortal soul. People ask “Where was God when Hitler killed millions?’ He was on his throne…catching them…but here on this earth they fell and fell hard.
