A presidential plane linked to Vladimir Putin flew north from Moscow towards Tver and switched off its transponder, according to multiple reports.
Other business jets were seen making an exodus from the capital towards St Petersburg.
Earlier there were reports from Ukrainian intelligence indicating Putin had left from Moscow by helicopter for his palace at Valdai, between Moscow and St Petersburg.
It comes as a sinister message posted on the Wagner Telegram channel on Saturday said: 'Putin made the wrong choice. All the worse for him.
'Soon we will have a new president.'
Sources close to Putin insisted he was working in the Kremlin - an unusual location for him except for short visits.

Then the Defense gets to start filing all of its briefs to dismiss, suppression hearings, arguing attorney client privilege, coercing of witnesses, misconduct, etc etc and that, in a case like this, can take months. Every argument can be challenged. Sometimes right there in the courtroom, sometimes are after a week or a month.
Perhaps, Smith did his job of getting a ridiculous indictment but scrutiny shows that the case is a dog with fleas.

The guy who traveled ahead to set up communications for Putin said that often Putin would arrive at an airport and be seen to board a plane. But the plane took off without him as a decoy. Putin would then, often, travel to another destination by a special train that is disguised to look like a commercial train. If he had to fly, it would be from a different airport than the one he so publicly used as a decoy. Both Mao and the KGB eliminated people they considered to be dangerous by having the plane they were on “crash.” Knowing that makes the Chinese and the Russian leaders antsy about boarding a plane.

If this attempted coup is a real thing and it appears that it is real.
The chances the current anti-Putin forces are seeking a peaceful negotiated settlement in Ukraine are probably very slim.
If this coup is successful and Putin is removed, whoever replaces him could be far worse than Putin.
Who controls the nukes is a real worry over the next 24-48 hours.
