A presidential plane linked to Vladimir Putin flew north from Moscow towards Tver and switched off its transponder, according to multiple reports.
Other business jets were seen making an exodus from the capital towards St Petersburg.
Earlier there were reports from Ukrainian intelligence indicating Putin had left from Moscow by helicopter for his palace at Valdai, between Moscow and St Petersburg.
It comes as a sinister message posted on the Wagner Telegram channel on Saturday said: 'Putin made the wrong choice. All the worse for him.
'Soon we will have a new president.'
Sources close to Putin insisted he was working in the Kremlin - an unusual location for him except for short visits.

A Russian Federation version of an election. Similar to the Brazilian election process. Put a strongman in the office, and actively attempt to prosecute the previous Maximum Leader. What the heck, it worked well in Venezuela.
Come to think of it, kind of what happened in this country. Only instead of a strongman, we got a faceless oligarchy with a puppet up front.
What is the official response from China?
Whoa...do you have any more info on Lukashenko?
Stalin was a monster. But I will give him credit for one thing. He refused to leave Moscow as the German army approached the city. Evidently Putin is no Stalin in this regard.
(assuming that this article is even true)
Putin has a multibillion dollar palace/military base north of Sochi. That would be a logical place to go.
Holy batshit Batman!
Yeltsin was a drunken fool who sold Russia out to the West and the Oligarchs. I doubt there’s a single Russian who considers him a good president.
> In the Wiki article it says Wagner group is private militia who supports Putin. <
Mercenaries support whomever pays them the most. Others on Free Republic have speculated that perhaps the CIA is now paying the Wagner group. There is evidently no evidence to support this. But in a way, it does make sense.
A real bargain if so.
TBD
And where does control of the nuclear arsenal end up?
This is why these events are so devastating to Putin and his rule. His legitimacy is gone and every country knows it. Nobody will be interested in financing his colonialist wars of choice with nukes on the table. No oil buyers in India. No missile chip sellers in China. Putin is just bad for business and has to go now.
Prigo has de-facto control of Russia’s Southern Military District nukes now.
Would have been cheaper for my kids if we had just bought Wagner months ago.
Just saying..... (if this is all true and it appears like something is happening).
Some crazy stuff posted on Twitter now with lots of pictures.

SOURCE: General Milley is retiring but he just floated a proposal to conduct a preemptive NATO attack on Russia is support of the coup. Everyone hoped the 76-year-old was joking and nervously laughed off the idea.

Oh, I’m sure they’ll get around to holding an “election” eventually.
If this is true, that means some regular Russian military have either joined with Wagner or are just stepping aside and letting them roll through.
Truly Russia brought evil home on itself in a dramatic fashion. The war came home to them in 24 hours.
All the boasts from fools about Russia and its plans. The plan was so incredibly bad that Russia itself is falling apart.
Now those of us who maintained common sense have to worry about managing the dangerous consequences.
Prighozin sounds like he’s not interested in a Ukraine war, but he can easily be lying.
His relations with the West are an open question.
Par for the course in Roman times. Interesting but not exceptional.
IMO he’s bunker-hopping, like hist (KGB protege) Saddam. He also has no where to go. But I read Erdogan offered a hand.
