Smith is asking for a delay to start the trial and is apparently pressuring “fake electors(whatever they are)” to talk and spill on Pres Trump....for those that are unaware - when you go to a grand jury and present your case, your case is pretty much done as far as interviews and evidence collection. Yes, something else could show up, the smoking gun, but for the most part, your work is done. You shouldn’t be asking for delays
Smith requested US District Judge Aileen Cannon to delay the trial by nearly four months — from Aug. 14 to Dec. 11 — arguing that both the prosecution and the defense need more time to prepare....the only side that needs to prepare in criminal cases is the Defense, because they have to get discovery and pour through all of the evidence collected by the Prosecution. Then the Defense gets to start filing all of its briefs to dismiss, suppression hearings, arguing attorney client privilege, coercing of witnesses, misconduct, etc etc and that, in a case like this, can take months. Every argument can be challenged. Sometimes right there in the courtroom, sometimes are after a week or a month.
Perhaps, Smith did his job of getting a ridiculous indictment but scrutiny shows that the case is a dog with fleas.
