Civil War Starts in Russia after Russian forces attacked the Wagner PMC, which has now led to outright war being called between the Russian government and forces loyal to Prighozin. Contact with Vladimir Putin has been lost for now with military blockades being set up around Moscow, and firefights breaking out in the Rostov region of Russia. Meanwhile Ukraine has declared a General offensive across all fronts and is reported to be making massive progress.

Polls have consistently shown Putin with 80% approval ratings among the populace. Do you actually think they would support Wagner over Putin?
Russia is the strong country with such a stable and strong currency that it will supplant the United States dollar is the world’s reserved currency.

I guess we’re about to find out because there is no good outcome for this convoy unless a lot of people want to get rid of Putin and sit on their hands when ordered to do various things to defend Moscow. And while it may be relatively easy to get near Moscow, as Napoleon and hitler found out, it is damned difficult to get into that city with much bigger forces than this convoy brings.
I think your pesimism is not justified. I give Prig a high chance of short term success if he crosses that last bridge into Moscow. If no one assassinates him, he has a chance of longer term success. It may depend somewhat on whether or not he has a secret deal with Putin or with Ukraine.
It isn’t a civil war.
That’s why Prigozhin has always couched this as rebellion against the Russian Ministry of Defense (MOD) and NOT Putin.
He says it is Shoigu and the other oligarch generals that have been robbing the Russian military blind and the MOD issues orders based on paper battalions and cannot supply even rudimentary ammunition.
Many Russians are pissed about their soldiers coming home injured or in body bags because of poor field leadership.
Prigozhin has been scratching that itch like crazy for months on TV and other media.
He needs to keep saying he’s trying to “rescue” Putin and the Motherland.
I don’t trust him; he is the guy who slow kills his own men with sledgehammers for God’s sake!

Wagner mercenaries enter Lipetsk region en route to Moscow
The governor of Russia’s Lipetsk province said Saturday afternoon that Wagner Group mercenaries had entered the region, some 400 kilometres (250 miles) from Moscow. Earlier in the day, Russian President Vladimir Putin accused Wagner mercenaries of “treason” in a live address to the nation after the group’s chief Yevgeny Prigozhin called for an armed uprising to oust the defense minister on Friday.

I don’t know for sure what the deal is with Prigozhin. I was actually surprised Putin has allowed him to get away so far with saying the things he has. But it seems obvious at this point that Prigo has gone rogue. Don’t know if he was bought off by CIA money or in cahoots with the Russian oligarchs. Maybe both.

Check my profile. I was in the Air Force for 22 years. Spent half that time in various intelligence agencies, including Defense Intelligence Agency (DoD CIA) and NSA CSS support. Some of these guys are dumb as a box of rocks. The rest spend most of their time doing studies and reading wire traffic. That wire traffic was like an early version of Free Republic. Lots and lots of opinion with a little news thrown in.

FoxNews dropped the ball long ago regarding this Russian invasion. Unfortunately, CNN and European news agencies have been the go to sites for military updates between Russia and Ukraine or be left in the dark.
