Tulsa Police Chief Wendell Franklin is calling for a 9/11 style response to gun violence and suggesting people may have to give up some of their freedom in exchange for gun control.
NPR posted an interview with Franklin on Sunday, noting he is critical of constitutional carry, wants more regulations on firearms that Democrats describe as “ghost guns,” and is open to a waiting period for the purchase of AR-15s and similar firearms.
Franklin said, “Law enforcement – we are the experts. We’re the subject matter experts at protecting America – right? – protecting our cities. And, you know, we should be utilizing that in that manner. So I am charged with protecting this community. And if there are better ways of protecting it, I think we should be looking at those better ways to protect it.”
Public Radio Tulsa quoted Franklin saying:
Ultimately, I’m a Second Amendment guy…But I’m okay giving up some of that freedom, right? We had to give up some of that freedom after 9/11. I’m okay with waiting three days, five days, or whatever to get my firearm if I go out and purchase another firearm. So I’m okay with a pause to allow for weapons to be purchased and allow the government and the gun companies to look at the background and do a thorough check before that gun goes to someone.

The reason police like gun control is that they no longer have to identify good guys with guns from bad guys with guns.
If they get their way on gun control, then only bad guys will have guns and it will be much safer for them to open fire.

Why don’t you enforce the law? How about fixing the corrupt DAs freeing the criminals? Take freedoms and rights away from repeat criminals first! Why do leftists always want to ditch the flock and side with the wolves?

Yet the criminals get their freedom in exchange for our freedom
1. We are having severe problems in society because right and wrong are not being taught, not in the schools, not at home and not at church.
2. We are having severe problems in society because right-doing is not rewarded very well and wrong-doing is certainly not punished adequately.
3. If folks can't get their children taught properly, take their children away. I'm serious. It is time to give up the Republic and democracy in general until we get the people taught right and wrong and the proper rewards and punishment in place. Now, THAT is going to upset some people but I mean EVERY word of it.
Put the homeless in work camps and they stay there until they get off of drugs/alcohol/etc. and are able to function in a job and with other people. If they can't, execute them. Same for drug addicts in general. ANYONE committing an act of treason is to be hanged. ANYONE involved in trafficking drugs is to be hanged and his/her entire immediate family executed. ANYONE killing an American overseas for no reason or who has not done them wrong is to be hunted down and killed. These folks who want to protest violently and damage property in the process would be caned with at least ten lashes, men or women, and so forth. The guy who survived in his attempt to kill Rittenhouse would be picked up immediately and hanged publicly. You let your pants go down over your buttocks, you get caned.
All sexual perversion expressed publicly would be subject to the death penalty which would be public hanging. Lawyers. Hmmm...that would take a special group to work on that. Many would be given the opportunity to leave the country and never return, on penalty of death for what they've done. I'll reserve commentary for that bunch since I have a special connection to the law profession. The media, now that would take special effort, but I promise I could get the job done starting with the schools where they are taught the profession. It used to be who, what, where, when, why and how and you reported objectively without inserting your opinions and you certainly didn't promote wrong-doing of any kind for any reason.
I earned my graduate degree in that field with a 3.9 GPA. I could get it back to that premise. The officer who is the subject of discussion should read this, but, he probably won't. He is not the expert he believes himself to be and I could point that out to him. I don't need to call anyone names. You want more thoughts, I have them. I agree. The criminals trade THEIR freedom and get gun control so the rest of us can live our lives.
