NEW YORK (AP) _ An appeals court upheld a $540,000 award on Tuesday to actor Samuel L. Jackson, who sued the New York Transit Authority after he was caught in a subway train door and injured his knee.
Jackson, who has said his middle initial stands for ``Lucky,″ was dragged down the platform and tore a ligament in the Dec. 14, 1988 accident. He regained the use of his leg after surgery and intensive physical therapy.
After a trial in December 1994, Jackson, whose latest film is ``The Great White Hype,″ won money for pain and suffering but not for lost earnings because at the time, his career had just begun to take off, said his lawyer, Brian Isaac.
Passengers testified that as they tried in vain to free Jackson’s trapped foot, the train began to move out of the station.
``His foot got caught and he got dragged along the platform until the motorman heard people shouting, `Stop the train! Stop the train!‴ Isaac said.
The award was affirmed by a 4-0 vote by the State Supreme Court’s Appellate Division, which said Transit Authority policy requires the conductor to check the platform before signaling the motorman to leave.
A Transit Authority spokesman declined comment on the decision.

So, are you saying you just witnessed bigotry? I didn't grow up in a house that used the word as a descriptor of all blacks, but also raised to know "there are black folk and N's. There is a vast difference". I actually hear it more now as hostilities rise as per the marxist plan. N**** is being dropped a bit more in casual conversation with acquaintances.
My oldest did an 18 month stint for larceny early on in his life, and came back pretty straightened out as to not wanting to go back, but definitely changed. He was a bit of a wigger in his teens, came out a proper redneck. He told me "Dad, I had to do things to people that you don't want to know about to survive, I'm sorry". He had to pick a side. Came back with a few swastika tats and a casual use of N***. I gave him a pass. Been on the straight and narrow and off the teat earning his own since then.
