Trump Was Right About Russia
American Thinker ^ | June 10, 2023 | Matthew G. Andersson

This Washington, D.C. establishment is dedicated to maintaining the posture of Cold War relationships and interpretations. Why? Because even though the “Establishment” is often deemed conservative, in reality it is not -- its members are inward looking, progressive in their self-interests, and casually opportunistic. They will do anything if it perpetuates their careers, and provides security to them professionally and personally. That means that enemies must be constantly created and maintained because fear and uncertainty are their currency.

###

America and Russia could be allies and natural business partners, or at least stable competitors. But the Cold War mentality of the Establishment in Washington makes a living off fighting, fear, and friction. It also of course represents U.S. corporations and other interests that see Russia as a natural resource prize; that was largely the excitement of 1990 during Glasnost: Western interests could grab Russia’s prized resources in minerals, oil, gas, agriculture, and certain engineering and manufacturing, and engage in an effective hostile takeover. Trump wasn't immune to some of these interests either, but his overall approach was engagement, and instead the U.S. is following a dangerous path of ignorance and escalation.

Trump was actually a peace president, including in his correct understanding of the dangers of a nuclear-armed Iran. The Biden administration is by contrast, going down a dead-end policy path, facilitating a three-pronged global risk consisting of support for radical Islam, a superpower conflict with Russia, and U.S. domestic civil war. None of these would have existed or existed in the same manner and to the same degree under a Trump presidency.

The latest Russian territorial invasion is already over. Russia lacks the military means of ground forces, air forces or naval forces to proceed with the invasion.

Putin lacks not only the will but the ability to retreat and save face.

The world is against him

I believe that in the 1990’s when the conditions of the USSR break-up were being settled there was a desire for real peace on both sides. Subsequent NATO leadership blew it.

Trump was actually a peace president, including in his correct understanding of the dangers of a nuclear-armed Iran.

A client state of Russia - empowered and enabled by Russia.

Trump was indeed correct about Russia but certainly not in the way this author claims. He was much more aggressive and proactive with Russia and headed them off, warned Europe and in particularly Germany the dangers of the Nord Stream pipeline and becoming dependent on Russia for energy - which is why his administration denied it and Biden approved it. It is Biden, like Obama before him, that treated Russia with kid gloves and Russia seized the opportunity that they did not have with stronger administrations like Trump.

It was Obama who said "The 1980s are calling and they want their foreign policy back" - certainly not Trump. This article is so nonsensical and spinning an alternate history - this commentator is trying to spin this into a pro-Russia narrative. Russia and the US were not allies, and Trump certainly did not treat them as such. He treated them like the real threat that they were...not seeking hostility and trying to seek peace, but it was indeed an approach of peace through strength.

You are such a liar.

Putin/Russia started it by attacking and invading.

Who is not going to fight back?

You I guess.

Russia was on path to integrating with the world and then Putin dragged it back to the Soviet era. Putin’s problem was that he didn’t have the industrial base and output of Eastern Europe to parasitize.

Maybe after Putin gets killed Russia can get back on path.

It's not supposed to mean anything - just spinning an alternate history to try to create a pro-Russian narrative.

Trump blasts Germany over gas pipeline deal with Russia (calls for NATO to spend more on defense)

Germany Reacts to Trump's UNGA Speech (warning them against Russia, expansionism) He warned them and they laughed at him. They aren't laughing now.

Trump: Germany is totally controlled by Russia, "very bad for NATO"

Trump taunts Russia on Syria, Russia reacts

Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump Russia vows to shoot down any and all missiles fired at Syria. Get ready Russia, because they will be coming, nice and new and “smart!” You shouldn’t be partners with a Gas Killing Animal who kills his people and enjoys it! 6:57 AM · Apr 11, 2018

What are you babbling about?

First, Russia did everything it could to prevent going to war 1) with Minsk Accords, which NATO worked hard to undermine 2) In 12/21 when they came to us with their security concerns and tried negotiate 3) When the Russians came close to peace deal with Ukraine in Turkey last March and we and the Brits intervened to kill any deal.

We did everything we could to make this war happen, start with the illegal coup we fomented in Ukraine in 2014.

And, Russia is kicking Ukraine's ass. That's why the much ballyhooed counteroffensive is total failure. Ukraine isn't getting an inch of territory back.

Take lies and go screw Ernie.

It’s like these people didn’t live through the years of the Trump administration...they remember nothing, even some of the most dramatic news events, yet have strong opinions about the same. Or...they are being less than honest and have other motives.

Zelensky is just an actor and he has been playing the entire world into handing him money without any accountability. He claims he is fighting for freedom and democracy when he refuses to comply with the Minsk Agreement which falsely was to allow those in the Donbas to vote on their own future.

Now he has empowered his government to shut down all dissent. Upon his return from meeting the Biden Administration, he took back some needed advice – restrict ALL media, block ALL websites that expose the truth, and order Big Tech to censor all negative comments about him or Ukraine. This site is not blocked even in China – it will be in Ukraine. So much for freedom, democracy, and free speech.

It was Kyiv that started the war by sending troops to attack the Donbas in 2014 and that was the West’s installed “temporary” government that started the war – not any elected Ukrainian government. Zelensky was elected promising to pursue peace and end corruption. He has done exactly the opposite. So much for campaign promises. They always say whatever they need to win, and then do the exact opposite. When Zelensky was elected, the Russian press cheered. They thought this actor would actually seek peace. Zelensky Realized it Was His Opportunity To Become a Billionaire.

You elitists hate, hate, hate Putin! He won't comply with the liberal world order. He won't implement the LGBT or Green agenda. He has shutdown the money laundering operation in Ukraine.

Meanwhile, patriotic Americans want BIDEN to die and America can get back on track.

Russia is better off under Putin, BTW, than it has been before communism inflicted its nation. That is what 13% flat tax rates and rejecting the Green agenda can do for a nation.

https://www.agenzianova.com/en/news/la-russia-entra-tra-le-prime-dieci-economie-del-mondo-per-il-pil-ai-prezzi-attuali/

Despite the effects of the war in Ukraine and the sanctions imposed by the West, according to data from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in 2022 Russia entered the top ten economies in the world, overtaking Italy, Brazil and South Korea, for gross domestic product (GDP) at current prices. A climb linked, in particular, to the strengthening of the value of the ruble and the increase in the prices of the raw materials of which Russia is a producer. In its last October update, the IMF confirmed that the Russian economy will contract in real terms by 3,4 percentage points in the year that is drawing to a close. Linked to current prices, however, GDP instead grew to 2.130 billion dollars, in ninth place in the world ranking.

The point was to keep Russia and China from teaming up against us. We — or rather, our rulers — blew it. Now we are wasting money on a war that could have been prevented, and China is picking up client states around the world.
