Actually this tends to create less democrat districts as it puts them all into one group that vote 95% democrat. Having said that if the overwhelming population is GOP and they are winning by 55% in all districts then yes this will net more Dem seats.

BTW: This is ridiculous. They say we can’t discriminate based on color but yet that’s EXACTLY what the supreme court did.

So that would be an 8 seat flip to the Rats. The GOP only controls the House by 9 seats?

Say goodbye to GOP control in 2024.

I’m not a Harvard or Yale law school schmuck, but it seems to me drawing voter districts based on race is unconstitutional and inherently racist. Kavanaugh has been a foul ball from the gitgo, as is his dancing partner Roberts.

This is actually a good thing.

In Florida, the last time Democrats were in power to redraw Congressional Districts, they created ‘Black Majority’ districts, using some wild lines, some splitting apartment complexes and going down the middle of rivers.

What that caused is they actually took away DEMOCRAT VOTERS from adjacent districts to create these Black Majority Districts, making adjacent districts more REPUBLICAN.

Then when Republicans took over the State Legislature, the Dems fully expected the Republicans to demolish these black districts, but they didn’t.

So don’t fret over Alabama..............................

Making the Africans the majority in Alabama. Nice. Too many recreational drugs again. Won’t be long before we’re going to need a White Caucus in Congress.

It’s also worth keeping in mind that the most recent appointee was chosen by an illegitimate President, which makes her appointment illegitimate. I would hope that when/if there is any accountability for that treasonous act, Brown’s appointment would be recognized as illegitimate and she would resign or be removed.

So, this just confirms whites are a bunch of racist and blacks are even more racist and will only vote for a black candidates. That a colorblind society is impossible. Blacks will vote black and white are incapable of voting for a Black candidate. Supremes justification, not mine.

They said they would not get involved in PA because it was a “state’s issue”.
Is everything corrupt?

in a state where more than one in four residents is Black.

What's germane is percentage of registered black voters, which is not addressed.

This is jerrymandering based on race; the worst kind of jerrymandering;

And the only jerrymandering of which I know that is approved by the Supreme Court.

*$%#^&$ to news stories about congressional redistricting that don’t bother to show the maps at issue.

I do not know my way around Alabama politics and redistricting issues, but I glanced at a map and I think the current 2nd and 6th districts look problematic. There are a couple of other oddities, but 2 and 6 have thin corridors connecting a larger and smaller block. Call them Adam Schiff districts: a pencil neck connecting a body and head.

I don’t know the ins and outs of those lines enough to comment, but they are visually suspect on the compactness and contiguity counts.

Alabama is 25% black, yet only 5% of the registered voters. Seems to me that they are over represented not under represented.

Districts should equally divide a state by the most contiguous, compact geometric district. For example a perfectly square state with 16 districts would be 4x4 smaller squares. Odd shapes can be equally divided by geometric formula.
Each must then be shrunk or expanded to incorporate approx 750k citizens.
