The owner of a funeral company has been charged with murder after police say he shot and killed a pallbearer before a burial service for a 10-year-old girl at a Prince George’s County, Maryland, cemetery.
Wilson Chavis, 48, of Hughesville, has been charged with first- and second-degree murder in the shooting death of 30-year-old Ronald Steven Banks, of D.C., Prince George’s County police said in a news release Wednesday.
The shooting happened about 1:20 p.m. Tuesday at Washington National Cemetery on Suitland Road, shortly before burial services for 10-year-old Ariana Davis. The girl was struck by a stray bullet while riding home in the back seat of a car in Northeast D.C. on Mother’s Day and died several days later.
Police said Chavis owns the funeral company that was providing burial services for Davis’ family. While the service was preparing to get underway, Chavis confronted two people at the service, who worked for another funeral service company, with which Chavis apparently had a “long-standing business dispute,” police said in the news release.
According to charging documents in Prince George’s County District Court, one of the people Chavis allegedly confronted was the pastor leading the service. As mourners were preparing to gather around the gravesite, Chavis pushed the pastor and said, “This ain’t your f— funeral home,” according to the charging documents.

Court documents allege that upon arriving at the grave site, Chavis looked at the pastor leading the service and said “I’m here for all you b—— a— n———.” The pastor reportedly didn’t respond and focused on the mourners, and that is when Chavis allegedly pushed him and said “This ain’t your f——— funeral home.”
People attending the funeral then stepped in, asking why Chavis was disrespecting the family. Chavis began to back up, tripped over a concrete vault lid and fell.
Court documents allege that Chavis then took out a gun from his waistband and shot Banks. Officials say he fired a second shot as he stood, which grazed the woman.
Following the shooting, Chavis reportedly drove away in his car and was taken into custody during a traffic stop a short time later.

Shootings, killings, burials! That’s what you get in Biden’s America. Crime is increasing, gang activity is on the rise, and children are being shot daily. That’s what you get in Biden’s America. Drugs coming across the border, foreign gang members being welcomed, and revenge killings much like in third-world countries. That’s what you get in Biden’s America.
My advice to you as a citizen of Biden’s America, is not to give up your firearms. Not even if you lose your status as a “law-abiding” citizen. For if you do, you are at risk of being killed by either the criminals and thugs being raised up or brought into Biden’s America, or by Biden’s FBI henchmen themselves.
Govern yourselves accordingly! For our elected officials certainly aren’t governing our nation in the manner our founding fathers intended!

A peculiar thing to say, but the whole event was bizarre. The poor family, after such a tragedy! Prayers for the precious child’s loved ones.

The very image of a dignified and elegant mortician. Any bereaved family would be proud to have him direct their loved one’s funeral.
Yeah. She was a cute little girl, and I presume the unintended victim of a gangland shooting. Any time I see news out of Baltimore, I just shake my head.
Why was a 10 year old girl being buried in a National Cemetery? I thought those were for military veterans and spouses?
This guy has an interesting strategy for drumming up new business.
