The Republican National Committee on Friday revealed the criteria that 2024 GOP presidential candidates must meet in order to participate in the first primary debate in August.
Prospective debaters will be required to hit several polling and fundraising thresholds in order to take the stage in Milwaukee, Wis., on Aug. 23, and all participants must also sign a pledge agreeing to support the party’s eventual standard-bearer and not participate in non-RNC sanctioned debates.
“The RNC is committed to putting on a fair, neutral, and transparent primary process and the qualifying criteria set forth will put our party and eventual nominee in the best position to take back the White House come November 2024,” Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel.***
The RNC will require that all participants attain at least 1% in three national polls or 1% in two national polls and 1% in a state poll from one of four early nominating states — Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina and Nevada. *** On the fundraising side, the RNC will require debaters to have a minimum of 40,000 unique donors to their principal presidential campaign committee or exploratory committee and at least 200 unique donors per state in 20 states or more.
Candidates who meet the eligibility criteria will be arranged on stage based on polling, with the highest polling candidate getting center stage. ***
Currently, six GOP presidential candidates are polling above 1% nationally – former President Donald Trump, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, former South Carolina governor and UN Ambassador Nikki Haley, former Vice President Mike Pence, entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy and Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) – according to a RealClearPolitics average. ***

A good source for information on the candidates including ratings, positions, funding, etc is:

1% seems awfully low.
“...sign a pledge agreeing to support the party’s eventual standard-bearer...”
That will remove ALL the RINO’s immediately (Christie, Hogan, Hutchinson, Lizard Cheney, etc.).
It’s not like they were going to get above 1% of the vote anyway.
The “support the party’s standard bearer” is an interesting one. I’ve heard folks who support others say they would vote for Trump if he wins, but I’ve heard alot of Trump folks saying they would sit it out or write him in. It’ll be interesting to see what Trump says, when he’s asked about this.
They may be committed to it, but I don't see any assurance.
The RNC is assuring to putting on a fair, neutral, and transparent primary process...
Word games.
I won’t vote for any ticket that has Haley on it ... period.
deal breaker.... non-RNC sanctioned debates
Vote Smart (Project Vote Smart)
Vote Smart, formerly known as Vote Smart Project, is a non-partisan research project which collects and distributes information on political candidates. It is a project (and appears to be the sole function) of the Center for National Independence in Politics. The organization was founded by former Arizona Democratic politician Richard Kimball with funding from prominent left-of-center institutional funders the Ford Foundation, Carnegie Corporation, Knight Foundation, and Revson Foundation. 1
Same. I don't want a coronation. Neither for DeSantis nor Trump - although at this point I'm probably going to give my primary vote to one or the other. But who knows? Maybe Vamaswamy is the dark horse in the race?
“Chairwoman McDaniel’s leadership has been an ‘exercise in ....failure,’ with the Republican Party losing the majority in the House of Representatives in 2018, losing control of the Senate in 2020 and drastically underperforming in 2022 ... even though a ‘wave election’ was expected since an overwhelming majority of voters when polled, responded that America is on the wrong track.”

Ronna McRomney, like her Uncle, is a RINO and a loser.
Yeah. I wouldn’t either. I stand corrected.
IMHO President Trump, having already shown the nation what a Trump presidency would do, can likely take a hard pass on the debate (making it a snooze-fest) and just respond online to anything he wants to clarify.
Maybe you are hearing that simply because President Trump is the only candidate running that Both parties conspired to remove from office by cheating, lying and downright illegality.
Come November 2024, the good Lord willing and the Creeks don't rise I will vote for President Trump by checking the box next to his name or writing his name on the appropriate line
You want to lecture me some more?
That pledge is meaningless. All the GOP candidates (except Trump) made the same promise in 2016, and yet Jeb Bush openly refused to support Trump after Jeb was humiliated in the primaries.
She was endorsed by Trump.
I agree...it’s like they want another circus of a ton of people on stage.
Maybe 1% for the first debate and then up it to 5% then 10% in subsequent debates.
That will remove ALL the RINO’s immediately (Christie, Hogan, Hutchinson, Lizard Cheney, etc.).
I'm of the opposite opinion. I think the pledge is aimed at Trump. He refused to make that pledge during the 2016 debates, so this is how Ronna and the RNC will get him prohibited to take part beforehand. Ronna's a fool. A debate without Trump is meaningless. They must think it will help DeSantis.
Sorry GOP, I don’t vote for a party, I vote for a person. I don’t make promises I don’t intend to keep like you do GOPe.
