Supporters of former President Donald Trump are spreading an altered image that purports to show Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) in a room with billionaire George Soros.
The image, which was shared to Twitter on Friday, has been seen by more than 219,000 users after being posted by the pro-Trump user @ThroughCheated.
"No disrespect to DeSantis supporters but don't u think it's odd that George Soros is right there supporting the meatball?" the user tweeted.
An individual that appears to be Soros can be seen sitting at a table in the background as a grinning DeSantis is visible on the right side of the image.
While many were able to correctly identify the photo as manipulated, others expressed concern over the fabricated ties between DeSantis and Soros.
"DeSantis is part of the establishment," one user said.
Some even tagged the official Twitter account for DeSantis, demanding that the conservative politician explain the photo.

The polling showed the GOP and the Trump candidates wee going to dominate last November.
The pre GOP primary polls ALWAYS show the candidate the media wants to win ahead. Dole in’96, McCain in 2000, McCain in ‘08, Romney in 2012. Sometimes they get it right, but they ALWAYS get the candidate they think the democrats can beat. Yes Trump in 2016 was the candidate that polls showed Hillary could beat. 1. I’m an American First voter. There is only one candidate who embodies that platform and has governed on it previously. Donald J. Trump.
2. I like my gov, Ron DeSantiss. He’s been great for Florida. I don’t like his backers, both money but especially support from the Bush Family, Paul Ryan etc.

DeSantis is young.. wisdom comes with passage of time and the experiences we have. I guarantee you, by the time a man reaches 65, he wishes he knew at 40 what he knows at 65.

Now, if you want to say that Rove is lying and denying he is actually the deep dark behind DeSantis, then I cannot help you. That type of conspiracy thinking is not rational.
Rove is a RINO, but not evil.
DeSantis is a bona fide conservative. I like that. We need someone to return us to constitutional order. DeSantis has come out to abolish the IRS, fire Wray on Day 1 and speaks out against what the Soros DAs are doing to Trump.
My concerns about Trump is that in order to buy popularity, he is going to negotiate away abortion, assault weapons, etc.
