President Trump just called Ron DeSantis a globalist. He’s 100% right. Here’s a long thread with everything i know so far to validate his point.
1. War
DeSantis said Trump wasn’t tough enough on Russia and advocated for more lethal aid to Ukraine.
He also voted to sanction Iran, Russia and North Korea while Trump opposed it. Earlier he wrote a joint letter to John Kerry, asking him to force Ukraine to join EU to fight against Russia. His former press secretary is a foreign agent who worked for a Zelensky official.
He seemed to support a regime change in Venezuela. Called the current regime illegitimate and wanted a “free Venezuela”.
He also supported the unending war in Afghanistan, called to use everything in our arsenal.
Not to mention his best friend Kent Stermon, who was the COO of Total Military Management. DeSantis lived in his condo when he was in congress. And of course in return, he appointed him on board after he became the governor, just like he did to other lobbyists.

Years of service:
1942–45 (U.S. Army)
1950–66 (Texas National Guard)
According to an article in The Tampa Bay Times:
"During the surge, DeSantis served as a senior legal advisor to the SEAL who commanded Special Operations Task Force-West in Fallujah, Navy Capt. Dane Thorleifson."
"DeSantis was responsible for helping ensure the missions of Navy SEALs and Army Green Berets in that wide swath of the Western Euphrates River Valley were planned according to the rule of law and that captured detainees were humanely treated, said his commander at the time."
In other words, he was there as the government's legal watchdog.
Audie Murphy: Two Bronze Stars, one for Valor, in three years of active combat duty in Tunisia, Sicily, Naples-Foggia, Anzio, Rome-Arno, Southern France, Ardennes-Alsace, Rhineland and Central Europe.
Beau Biden and Ron DeSantis: One Bronze Star for a year, sitting in an office in a combat zone.
Come on, you’re comparing Audie Murphy to anyone is a bit unfair.
And DeSantis was in the military before he was even in public office.
Both he and Biden served honorably.
Lastly, he made a choice to serve. President Trump didn’t. Like it or not, that’s a differentiator between them.
Remember when President Trump went to France, and his trip to the service at the Aisne-Marne American Cemetery and Memorial was cancelled. He was supposed to take Marine One, but it was near-zero visibility so the flight was cancelled. The only other option was to drive the 2 1/2 hours each way, but the Secret Service put that idea to rest due to the unknown safety factors involved. Sarah Sanders said that the President also did not want to cause that kind of unexpected disruption to the city and its people. Chief of staff John Kelly and then Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Joseph Dunford visited the Cemetery in President Trump's place. President Trump did attend the program, and speak at the Suresnes American Cemetery and Memorial the next day. The media tried to put Trump in a bad light over his absence the day before.
LOL! The country is being destroyed by Fascists in our government, and you're worried about what Trump says???
I didn't compare them personally. I compared the time of service vs. the earning of a Bronze Star. Are you that dense that you can't figure that out?
Re: 139 - to be honest, the vets I know who have a CIB take a lot of pride and honor in that, including a couple who have a Bronze Star w/ V device. As one explained it, it was a badge that meant that he was there for his platoon (was a Platoon Leader).
Re: 145 - oh, please. WW2 was a different era. You just can’t compare that era with now - there are so many more awards , etc now than in WW2. It’s just the way it is.
DeSantis picked this fight? In what world are you living? He has been practically non-responsive to weeks of childish insults.
No he advised mission legalities as a JAG
You know how primary season goes here
” I will gladly vote for Trump if he’s the nominee, but I haven’t built a shrine to him”
In that case, you’re one of the few on Free Republic who hasn’t gone into the President Trump shrine-building business
“Some are becoming more like the Left around here every single day”
Or they’re simply Far Left rats in Right Wing clothing

No, of course not, because back then, people who sat on their ass and saw no action, even if they were overseas, didn't get Bronze Stars for pushing papers.
Thanks for the info. My brother never talked about his time in Vietnam, and sadly he died of a heart attack at 51. I got his service records from the V.A. after he passed, then searched online for the specific operations he was on with the 25th Infantry during the year he was there, and shared it all with his family.
Maybe he can't, or won't defend himself. I won't vote for someone who won't fight back. I made that mistake voting for the Bushes, Dole, McCain and Romney. Never again.

DeSantis chose to enter the race after Trump had already been a declared candidate for over 6 months. Sounds to me like DeSantis picked the fight.
Being a candidate means you’re in an adversarial relationship with other candidates. You’re criticizing Trump for not just rolling over and conceding to DeSantis.
So ... you’re saying vote for Trump?
IMO, no. I consider REMFs as those who get command positions and screw them up, badly. These are men and women who may be good staff officers, but should never be allowed within 100 yards of soldiers.
I had the opportunity to have a couple of COs who fit that definition. My stories of their miscues are interesting only to me, so I won't bore you.
I had a few teachers tell me to my face how "disappointed" they were with my decision. That started my problems with people in positions of authority...lol. In my graduating class of 500+, I had the most valuable scholarship of all.
I've never been back, though I stay in touch with a few over classmates.com.
