Emotion trumped economics in the 2023 Turkish presidential campaign, forcing the opposition to embrace nationalism ahead of Sunday’s runoff. But President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was ahead of the curve, using a mix of nationalist rhetoric, pan-Islamic heroism and historical references in a bid to enter his third decade in power.

Erdogan has been the Muslim dictator of Turkey for close to 10 years.

Pretending that Turkey has free elections and that Erdogan could possibly be voted out is a neo-Marxist comedy show.

Turkey in nominally Muslim. It actually reminded me of America in the 50s or early 60s. Family values still rule. No purple haired tatted up libs. No entitled class. The opposition to erdogan are the homoglobalgreenie cabal. The bug city libs. ‘

Nominally Muslim?

Erdogan fired every secular senior officer in the military, which was the only thing that kept Turkey "nominally" Muslim for the last 100 years.

Erdogan has imprisoned or fired thousands of secular teachers and other government employees who refuse to accept the new Muslim mandate.

Yes, nominally Muslim. Not at all like Arab country type Muslims. And yes, I believe Erdogan DOES promote Islam...but it would be like a President in our country supporting Christians. Either way the brand of Islam in Turkey is far better for their society then the globalhomogreenie religion (secular) that is trying to subvert all people. The people STILL are moral and live by a code that while wrong theologically at least extolls the virtue of moral behavior and the importance of family.
