Connecticut lawmakers exonerate colonial-era 'witches'

Connecticut lawmakers have voted to exonerate 12 people more than 370 years after they were convicted of witchcraft in colonial America.

Eleven of the 12 were hanged after trials that the state Senate now acknowledges were a "miscarriage of justice".

I'm sure glad that Connecticut has gotten all of its current problems solved so they can take care of this pressing issue.

But wait! There were far more than these 12! Those who plead “Guilty” were fined and given a prison sentence. Those who plead “Not Guilty” were found Guilty and hanged.

What about those who plead “Guilty”! Will they get a pardon?

And what about the man who refused to make a plea? He was crushed to death to try and make him give a plea. By not making a plea, the sheriff could not confiscate his property as he did those who made pleas.

I’ve yet to hear speculation that some of these witches might actually have been believing witches, and offered blood sacrifices to pagan gods and Satan.

Some stuff like that actually did happen in the Spain of the Spanish Inquisition, with evil paganism got intertwined with Christianity.

If you consider how many mentally ill people there are today, why should it be a surprise that there used to be proportionally that many in the past.
