Why do we need this guy anyway?

Uh, because Trump is ~80 years old, quadruple vaxed and boosted, couldn’t beat a walking corpse in Biden in the last election, and has done nothing to improve his image or election security in swing states since them. His recent surge in the primary polls is clearly tied to sympathy he’s receiving for being indicted in New York, with more indictments likely on the way.

That may be the race horse you want to bet on, but not me.

College summer jobs hardly are considered working in the working class. But at least he did something. Irrelevant anyway.

“A FOX poll from April 2020 showed his honesty rating was 15%.”

I wonder what the same poll results would be if they polled a dem (Hillary, Biden, any dem for that matter)

Zhang Fei, you make some good points. Sorry I missed knowing he worked as an electrician and baseball coach during his college years. I think a lot of us did the same thing during college years -- worked in restaurants, mowed laws, etc.

But you simply can't compare DeSantis' work experience to that of Trump. Sure, Trump's Dad loaned him a couple million dollars to start a business competing in the vicious Manhattan real estate market.

And you can bet he struggled. And he gained vast experience running a billion dollar business that included many ups and downs. When the recession hit, Trump was massively over-leveraged but he made a comeback.

You may be interested in reading a vanity I wrote which shows the kind of expert deal-making that made Trump successful: An Architectural & Business Masterpiece: Trump Tower in Chicago

And you don't rise to the top like Trump did has by screwing over people. It's called the Art of the Deal. He wrote the book on that and lived it. He made other people money, so he succeeded.

And he ran a global business -- as an entrepreneur, not a Wall Street type. Big difference because Trump had his own skin in the game.

And think of the courage it's taken to oppose the Deep State and powerful forces in Washington who are destroying this country. Talk about skin-in-the-game! I'm also voting for that kind of courage to do what's right and return power to the people.

Trump also succeeded in the media with his joint venture with NBC on the hit TV show, Apprentice. That combined experience combined gave Trump the intelligence to run for President, to win, and to succeed on so many fronts.

You can still argue you like DeSantis better. Fine, that's your choice. But don't discount the skill it took for Trump to build the MAGA movement around working class people, his own money, and contribution from mostly small donors. That's a key Trump enabler.

Now I'll agree with you for sure that DeSantis is better at special interest fund raising. But I sincerely worry DeSantis will owe people favors if he should get elected President, and therefore will not be able to challenge the status quo - which is what we need.

I'll make a prediction for you: DeSantis will bail out of the primaries before Super Tuesday. In that way, he can avoid losing in his home state of Florida.

If he DOES runs and wins that primary, you can call me a windbag and a goat. Fair enough?

The guy just had a book published by HarperCollins — part of the Rupert Murdoch media empire. You think he did that for free?

LOL! Every poll ever taken on this show Americans across the board don’t believe Trump is honest. A FOX poll from April 2020 showed his honesty rating was 15%. But you’re entitled to your own opinion, of course.

Just yesterday you claimed you always post links with your comments. So, post links to these 'Every poll ever taken..." a random sampling of 3-4 polls will suffice. No need to post a link to Fox because they are liars as well. Maybe NPR, Newsweak, MSNBC??? What else you got, Mr Morality?

“Except giving Biden a second term isn’t really a problem for Trump. He’s a billionaire. He’s got private security and lives in a one-percenter bubble. Trump’s not the one to suffer from his own inevitable defeat. We are.”

I worked for Trump. You know why Trump is successful? It’s because he is the best project manager on the planet. He looks at things differently than most people. He focuses on a project, brings in the right people to do the job and when the project is finished he releases them. He is also fair, but if you cross him, his wrath is mind blowing.

To Trump, things like tax cuts is a project. Making America energy self-sufficient is a project. DeSantis cannot do what Trump does because he doesn’t know how. When it comes to politics, we have to understand something. Building structures all over the world requires political savvy as well as having an intelligence apparatus to mitigate risk.

To Trump, being brash, self absorbed and rude is nothing more than a communications strategy and he is good at it.

Well, no surprise in some respects. And not a problem. At least, DeSantis is not down in the mud, name-calling and trashing people he’s not just talk he’s proving action, lasting legislative action, which Trump never accomplished.

Desantis would never be trumps VP. They have to give up the votes from Florida or Trump would have to return to New York or somewhere. Need to learn your civics.

Agreed, Trump will defeat himself, he is well in the way to doing that. The only thing holding them up in the polls now is sympathy, party support, and as people get to know, DeSantis and other candidates, I believe that will disappear quickly. Unfortunately, Trump will continue his scorched earth approach and destroy the party if we’re not careful.

There’s not a single nationwide poll from anyone that I could find showing Americans believe Trump is trustworthy. Don’t blame me, blame Trump.

Re: 52 - Who are you trying to persuade?

Listen, there are many, many only-Trumpers on FR. Don’t try to persuade them about anything regarding President Trump.

Try to reason with those that are not only-Trumpers. Otherwise, aren’t you wasting your efforts? And there are many substantive issues for candidates to answer.

For example, President Trump is a squish on the Second Amendment. He needs to be asked the tough questions about his comments in supporting red flag laws and his bump stock ban. So far, he has scurried away when confronted with such questions.

President Trump needs to be asked how he will get legislation passed in a divided Congress. Not general ideas, but specifically how he plans to get that done. Thankfully, declaring martial law like the mouth breathers that believe in devolution is not a plan.

The same thing with DeSantis - he needs to lay out a plan on how he plans to get legislation passed in a divided Congress. I mean, specific things he plans to get legislation passed. Why should voters support him? Right now, his case is weak.

Those are the benefits of a Republican Primary. Neither Trump or DeSantis can hide.

TPTB have totally diminished the perception WTP had
of our President and our nation. Present
circumstances have tragically altered all we
considered true and honest.
Satisfaction would be the election of a President
who actually told truth when claiming to love this
nation as it was founded those many years ago,
rather than attempt to cheat, and exhort the country
of its people and wealth.
Show us a man who loves this nation as much as
he loves himself, his family;
one with the will power and ability to get the job done.
