Bill Clinto has an amazing ability to remember names. Obviously very useful in a politician but apparently so much of his brain was specialized in that task it had little room for calculating good from evil . He became a very evil but charming man by default.

So far, Trump has shown an amazing inability to assemble any governing coalition, even when the GOP controlled both houses of Congress. This is the man who wrote the Art of the Deal, yet he could not come to any deals with the members of his own party, not to mention the opposition party. Trump supporters whine about the GOP not supporting him, but he was elected in large part because he said he could make deals to get things done. Add to that his demonstrated inability to put together his own team that will support his agenda, just how do Trump supporters think he will accomplish anything other than short-term wins that are easily overturned (like last term) even if in some unlikely scenario he actually won?

Make no mistake about it. No one in the deep state, media or anywhere else is worried about a Desanctimonius Presidency...no more than they were worried about a Jeb Presidency a GWB Presidency or a Clinton President. Whatever their strategy is there ultimate goal is to make sure there is no Trump Presidency. That’s thr PRESIDENCY they’re all worried about, even if not the candidacy(and I’m not convinced of that either)

It's amusing to examine your 2016 pre-election posts about Trump, CA Conservative. ;-)

heads-up to you, backpacker_c, about who you're dealing with.

It’s an annual Basque event, don’t have much details at the moment, not how big it is or anything. But I’m sure they’ll be more out about it and other events coming up soon

Regardless of which one wins, he needs to be strong enough for the general election. I hope we don’t end up with both too damaged to win.

Obviously, a number of people who say Trump can’t win because of his boorish behavior never voted for him in the first place. He will win without them. And the reason is simple. In the state of affairs we find ourselves, if boorish remarks limit ability to support Trump you’re part of the problem, not the solution. More people are getting it, but some will choose to be left behind.

I don’t deny that I was opposed to Trump in 2016. He validated a lot of my concerns, but he also wound up doing a lot of things I liked, so I voted for him in 2020. But because he couldn’t figure out how to work with Congress, almost every good thing he did while in office has been undone. And the things I didn’t like about him in 2016, I still don’t like about him. He is an egotist and a narcissist and can’t resist alienating anyone who doesn’t unquestioningly worship him. And I don’t see how he wins the states he lost in 2020.

If he was actually that popular, why doesn't he have a live announcement party or fund raiser open to the general public, in florida?

LOL!

Let the butthurt flow through.

If Trump had balls, he'd have crashed DeSantis' Twitter space.

But, he didn't.

...So far, Trump has shown an amazing inability to assemble any governing coalition...

We keep seeing examples of a Uniparty. The reason I've discovered for this I call the first Iron Law Of Politics: The Worst Of the Worst want to be a politician first. Trump was a businessman most of his life and only had to deal with Politicians when necessary for a deal. He simply had to learn the hard way how to deal with routine backstabbers.

He is obviously a smart guy who knows how to get around roadblocks. To really win an effective coalition he has to bring the people he needs to office with him. To blame him for not getting the cooperation of the corrupt ones already in place is a feature, not a bug.

“Perhaps DeSantis believed our growing dictatorship had to be fought now or it would be too late to reverse it.”

Or...perhaps DeSantis believes that Trump might be eliminated from being able to run by the DS left, finally. I’ve been saying we need a backup plan. Maybe DeSantis thinks so, too.

The GOP-E wanted him gone, because he wanted to make too many positive changes. Trump actually wanted to repeal Obamacare and build a wall. The GOP-E did not.

This is not a Trump failing, but that of jealous, petty Republicans.

And I don’t see how he wins the states he lost in 2020.

DeSantis won't win those states, either.

It's my belief that the Democrats have already locked up the Electoral College vote for 2024.

It will take Thor's Hammer to break the ballot fraud in the swing states. Ron DeSantis, who I like, will not be allowed to acknowledge the Deep State ballot fraud machine.

A Basque fry on some ranch? I think Cruz went to one of those. Certainly not a political rally which I was referring to.

Where is the big kick off rally for DeSantis?

He let Georgie Soros, the FBI and Hitler do it for him.

He knows how to delegate. ;-)

Those rich Trump supporters are his friends for long time.
Where as Mr. Career politician DeSantis has all new rich friends who were hurt by Tariffs Trump imposed on China and are pulling strings of puppet RDS.

If there is one thing Trump did during his 4 years was to do MAGA initiatives and not help his rich friends.

The Fox News evening line up has been running very sharp edged anti-DeSantis ads for the last month.

All of the ads are paid for by political front organizations that I have never heard of before.

The one I saw this evening was purchased by Make America Great something or other.

DeSantis hit Trump with a solid counter punch today when he accused Trump of turning over the entire federal government to Fauci in March 2020.

My strongest criticism of Trump during his four years in office was that he needed to read - and internalize - everything that was written or said about Covid, set his own policies, and take the leadership on every politically related issue.

Being anti-Trump is not the same as being anti-MAGA or anti-conservative. When you associate principles or even a political philosophy with only one person, that becomes cultish. That is what the Trump movement has become - a personality cult. Anyone that opposes Trump in the slightest way are treated as heretics and traitors.
