DeSantis Puts 'Failure to Launch' Narrative to Bed With Stunning 24-Hour Haul
Redstate ^ | May 25, 2023 | Bonchie

Posted on 05/25/2023 8:28:04 PM PDT by CA Conservative

Ron DeSantis’ 2024 campaign launch ran into a few glitches on Wednesday evening, but it wasn’t long before he hit his stride. After spending 75 minutes talking policy with Elon Musk, the Florida man shifted over to do primetime interviews with Mark Levin and Trey Gowdy before holding a tele-town hall with voters. He’s scheduled to cap his roll-out off in Iowa on Tuesday with an in-person rally at a baseball stadium.

Still, the headlines from the mainstream press weren’t kind to DeSantis. Many proclaimed his launch to be a “disaster,” with some going so far as to claim his campaign was already over. Well, that narrative was firmly put to bed after the 24-hour donation numbers were released for the newly-minted DeSantis campaign.

In a stunning, record-setting haul, $8.2 million was raised in just a single day, and that’s exactly why you should always be skeptical of what the press says (The New York Times).

"Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida raised $8.2 million in his first 24 hours as a presidential candidate, his campaign said on Thursday, a huge sum that cements his standing as the leading rival to Donald J. Trump.

Mr. DeSantis’s campaign began on Wednesday evening with a glitch-filled kickoff on Twitter, but that apparently did not slow donor enthusiasm. The campaign said on Wednesday that it had raised $1 million during a single hour.

The $8.2 million figure is more than the $6.3 million that Joseph R. Biden Jr. raised in his first 24 hours as a candidate in 2019, or the $6.1 million haul raised by former Representative Beto O’Rourke that same year."

Besting Biden’s formally-record-setting total by $1.9 million is no small feat. It’s also important to remember that campaign donations are capped at a fairly low amount, unlike donations to Super PACs where big-time donors like to send their money. That means that almost all of that $8.2 million would have to have come from normal, small-dollar donors around the country. There’s no way to spin that other than being impressive.

Does that mean DeSantis is going to romp his way through the primary? I have no idea, and I think that’s a perfectly good answer at this point in the campaign. Anyone telling you with any certainty what will happen is just telling you what they want to believe. We are seven months out from the first primary and there’s a ton that can change between now and then. In fact, history would suggest that we should all be ready for some surprises as we head into the fall.

For now, the candidates will be doing their best to get their message out there and to draw support. I think that’s what DeSantis’ huge fundraising total amounts to right now. It’s evidence that his candidacy is the real deal (you can’t fake small-dollar donations) and that he’s going to draw a lot of interest going forward. He’ll also have the resources to implement the infrastructure needed to compete. What that amounts to in the end will be decided when voters have their say. I’m comfortable with that arrangement.

That’s a very good question.
How does one completely dissolve the Crony Capitalism.
A government appointed board may be the best that Crony Capitalism can muster..

And, Trump may appear to be defending a Company that employs lots of Floridians..
Trump also warned that investment by the Mouse would probably not be done, right?

There was just recently the news that the Mouse paused or completely abandoned a billion dollar development in Central Florida..

Maybe that’s a net good thing for Florida, but development means jobs and investment means $$$ flowing into Florida.

So, Trump was predicting a financial consequence for Florida.
And Florida just recently got news of a billion dollar development not being done..
Florida and Disney proved Trump’s prediction.

It wasn’t much of a prediction but it came true days before DeSantis announced for a higher office..

Maybe that’s the plan for Florida govt.
Force Disney to move out of Florida with no new developments and all those jobs will be replaced by a non Crony Capitalist company(s) over time..

And Hobby Lobby or the owners of the former Holy Land Experience will buy Disney property up cheap..

You keep arguing that somehow, Trumps not to blame for failing to gain or maintain congressional majorities. Maybe true, maybe not, but that doesn’t change the fact that he has shown no ability to get people that would support his agenda elected. Therefore, there is no reason to believe that,f elected, he would be able accomplish anything more than another 4 years of chaos.

I don’t think any state can create a board with lifetime appointments. In our entire system of government, the only lifetime appointments are federal judges. So that is a very silly argument.

That “billion dollar investment” was paused a couple of years ago, and was cancelled for reasons unrelated to the current conflict between Disney and Florida. Those reasons include the fact that it is not a good business climate to build office buildings right now; the people who would have been moved to that building didn’t want to move to Florida; the project was proposed by Bob Chapek, but Bob Iger hated it; and Disney is currently laying off thousands of workers due to losing money over their woke policies. Disney still has $17 billion in investments in Florida planned. So Trump was wrong or misinformed about that as well.

A Governor appointed board is only as good as the Governor that has the right to appoint..

The Governor that appointed the first set of yes sirs, just announced he’s mission accomplished and on to bigger and better things..

I suspect Disney sighed relief that they get to start fresh with a state that has enabled them for many many many years..

Florida Swamp has trended towards enabling, not disabling, the Money Printing Central Florida Mouse..

Lol! The guy’s only 44 years old. What do you expect? He’s been in politics for 10 years. Does he have another source of income that I’m not aware of?

You are so pathetic you ignored the immense reduction in SMALL BUSINESS REGULATIONS Trump got done. Result was best economy during my 63 years after arriving in US.

You are just like tho se low intelligence voter favoring career politicians, who screw the hard working middle class.

Trump has a high success percentage because he mostly endorses in races that are not competitive. If you endorse the GOP candidate in a district that is +10% GOP, you have a very good chance they will win. His record in competitive races is not nearly that good. See Walker, Herschel; Lake, Kari; Oz, Mehmet; et al.

Are you a communist? What the heck is wrong with AMERICAN JOB CREATORS getting a tax break? Giving only you a tax break won’t even create 1/4 job.

Your response is so incoherent, I am guessing you must be a meatball worshiper.

“”but Trump will lose the general, and then we all lose”

Prove it. Trump is already beating Biden in the polls. I’m sick of all the two-faced Pubs chanting their mantra that Trump will lose to Biden in the general elections. Based on no fact. The only comparison you could make is the 2020 Election that wasn’t ever lost by Trump; it was stolen by Biden and his evil minions in the dark of the night, and you know it.

The problem with any race since 2020 is that we don’t know how much is real and how much is fake. Like it or not America is now a dictatorship in its early stage .

Wrong guess. I want Trump to win. The problem is that the enemy can now steal elections and we can’t vote in anybody that can fix it. America is now a dictatorship. The J6 political prisoners and the mockery of Justice they have suffered is an early warning sign of much worse to come.

So, TallahasseeConservative, to answer your question, the answer is obviously 'no' for some folks.

"Cutting off your nose to spite your face" applies here.

That's a shame, delchiante.

“When you associate principles or even a political philosophy with only one person, that becomes cultish. That is what the Trump movement has become - a personality cult.”

“No, I don’t claim supporting Trump is a cult”

gee, that sounds EXACTLY like what you were claiming!
