DeSantis Puts 'Failure to Launch' Narrative to Bed With Stunning 24-Hour Haul
Redstate ^ | May 25, 2023 | Bonchie

Ron DeSantis’ 2024 campaign launch ran into a few glitches on Wednesday evening, but it wasn’t long before he hit his stride. After spending 75 minutes talking policy with Elon Musk, the Florida man shifted over to do primetime interviews with Mark Levin and Trey Gowdy before holding a tele-town hall with voters. He’s scheduled to cap his roll-out off in Iowa on Tuesday with an in-person rally at a baseball stadium.

Still, the headlines from the mainstream press weren’t kind to DeSantis. Many proclaimed his launch to be a “disaster,” with some going so far as to claim his campaign was already over. Well, that narrative was firmly put to bed after the 24-hour donation numbers were released for the newly-minted DeSantis campaign.

In a stunning, record-setting haul, $8.2 million was raised in just a single day, and that’s exactly why you should always be skeptical of what the press says (The New York Times).

"Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida raised $8.2 million in his first 24 hours as a presidential candidate, his campaign said on Thursday, a huge sum that cements his standing as the leading rival to Donald J. Trump.

Mr. DeSantis’s campaign began on Wednesday evening with a glitch-filled kickoff on Twitter, but that apparently did not slow donor enthusiasm. The campaign said on Wednesday that it had raised $1 million during a single hour.

The $8.2 million figure is more than the $6.3 million that Joseph R. Biden Jr. raised in his first 24 hours as a candidate in 2019, or the $6.1 million haul raised by former Representative Beto O’Rourke that same year."

Besting Biden’s formally-record-setting total by $1.9 million is no small feat. It’s also important to remember that campaign donations are capped at a fairly low amount, unlike donations to Super PACs where big-time donors like to send their money. That means that almost all of that $8.2 million would have to have come from normal, small-dollar donors around the country. There’s no way to spin that other than being impressive.

Does that mean DeSantis is going to romp his way through the primary? I have no idea, and I think that’s a perfectly good answer at this point in the campaign. Anyone telling you with any certainty what will happen is just telling you what they want to believe. We are seven months out from the first primary and there’s a ton that can change between now and then. In fact, history would suggest that we should all be ready for some surprises as we head into the fall.

For now, the candidates will be doing their best to get their message out there and to draw support. I think that’s what DeSantis’ huge fundraising total amounts to right now. It’s evidence that his candidacy is the real deal (you can’t fake small-dollar donations) and that he’s going to draw a lot of interest going forward. He’ll also have the resources to implement the infrastructure needed to compete. What that amounts to in the end will be decided when voters have their say. I’m comfortable with that arrangement.

Sorry, God. I don’t know what Your plan is these days
.....

Ask God why did He start America with 13 Colonies, like He began with Him and His 12 Disciples.
And grew America to 50 states, like the New Covenant Church grew at 50.

Americans should wonder what’s going on.
So should the Church.
They’re both tracking the same way..

Serpent led. Lawlessness, disorder, Just Us..

The swamp isn’t going to get drained by the swamp..
The serpent isn’t grabbing his own tail..

America and the Church have a Serpent and Swamp problem.

The Swamp is co owned by the R and D team.

Why should we expect either to destroy themselves when it’s in their mutual benefit to coexist?

There is one movement that infiltrated that R and D co owned swamp that is shown to be a threat to business as usual.

It’s at war with both swamp parties today.

The swamp just got their new shiny R rep to take the war to MAGA..

One thing about His plan.
He wins
Pharisees, Sadducees, Synagogues of Satan, Babylon, Swamps, all lose..

And He can use a billionaire former Democrat just as much as he can use a Ahab Clinton and his Jezebel Hillary..

Or maybe a future Ahab and Jezebel will come on board..
Or maybe a Trump is more than a Trump if there are to be any trumps, or a last trump..

Amazingly prophetic this nation.
And it can’t help it..

... had majorities in 2017, then lost seats in 2018 and 2020...

Presidents routinely lose seats mid term. Anything post 2020 is suspect due to successful fraud through mail in voting. What candidate has made election fraud front and center?

“raised $8.2 million”

From working class folks and kids breaking open their piggy banks no doubt.

“DeSantis only got into politics in 2013.”

Ten years. That sounds like a career.

DeSantis could have done what others have and allowed Disney to continue to ride the gravy train. He didn’t. He took them on when he didn’t have to. That speaks volumes.

“The problem is Trump cannot win in a general election. He has alienated the moderate and swing voters, and unfortunately it is impossible to win without them And he hasn’t learned the rule of holes - he just keeps digging”

Yeah, that’s why all the recent polls show Trump beating Biden.

“He is alienating Republicans as well. I know I’m not the only one who has dropped our support for him. Every time he opens his mouth and criticize his fellow Republicans, spouts his boorish comments, he loses another voter.”

Yeah, that explains why there is a 30 plus point gap between Trump in the polls and DeSantis. You sure know what you are talking about, right. Amazing how many voters Trump is losing, ... not.

“And I don’t see how he wins the states he lost in 2020.”

The states he lost were corrupt and the election was stolen by Biden and the Dems in the dark of night. But you flit right past that little fact.

“No, not at all. And it’s silly, to keep bringing up Jeb Bush. DeSantis is nothing like Jeb bush.”

The result will be the same; DeSantis will lose.

So how does he win them this time? Unless you can answer that, voting for Trump would seem to accomplish nothing more than virtue-signaling.

You choose to ignore the obvious. Trump is creaming DeSantis in the polls. DeSantis will lose, and that’s when you will figure this all out, when your choice loses bigtime.

With a board that can be changed with the next Governor..
Or the next after that.
Or the next after that..

That’s the point.
DeSantis and Florida made up a board that doesn’t have lifetime appointments..

That makes me smile because unless Ron DeSantis stays Governor, then the next Governor, even an R, or the next, or the next, can just put Pro Disney people in the board and Disney can change its leadership over time too, to make itself less mouthy..

Unless Florida plans on shutting Disney down, Disney is the only Florida entity that has proven it prints money..

And money talks in politics and government.

DeSantis gave future Florida Govt heads and future Disney heads, an out..
While earning bonus points for standing up to the Mouse..

Florida govt earns points for fighting the Mouse.
But Florida govt loses as many points for enabling the grooming Mouse in the first place..

No, I don’t claim supporting Trump is a cult - I say that anyone who claims that Trump is the only person who can “save the country” and who will stay home, write in Trump or even vote Dem if Trump is not the nominee is part of a cult. Their devotion is to a man, not to the country or even to a set of principles. I did not support Trump in 2016 but supported him in 2020. I don’t see Trump winning the general election because although his base is still enthusiastic about him, the squishy GOP, independents, suburban women and crossover Dems who got him the win in 2016 are firmly against him. I think if Trump is the nominee, there are a lot of people who voted for him previously that will not vote for the Dem, but just will not vote at all. Trump on the ballot will energize the Dem vote, however.

Trump is beating Desantis at this time in the primary race (polls this far out are notoriously unreliable - otherwise we would have had President Giuliani, President JEB, President Walker, etc.), but Desantis has a much greater opportunity to win over the Independents, moderate Dems that are tired of Biden and the Never Trumper GOP in the general election. Desantis may lose the primary, but Trump will lose the general, and then we all lose.

Actually, Trump also gets his donations from sources like Disney, Black Rock, billionaires and other interest groups. Trump and Desantis also are getting a lot of donations from grass-roots donors.

Yes, that was when he was still listening to Trump about COVID. It was only after Trump called him in March of 2020 that Desantis issued the executive orders re: COVID. But at least he quickly recognized he made a mistake listening to Trump and reopened everything by the beginning of May 2020.

Does Black Rock and Disney count as establishment or Deep State? Do you really think they are MAGA supporters? Yet they are major donors to the Trump campaign.

He did what he was allowed to do under Florida law. But what should he have done? Ignored it? Trump is defending Disney, why?
