NY Governor Hochul floats idea of housing illegals in dorms at state universities

Oh oh! It turns out that actually experiencing an inflow of illegal immigrants can force even the bluest of blue state Dem politicians to risk angering their equally blue constituents. Spectrum News reports:

Gov. Kathy Hochul’s administration has identified dorms on three SUNY campuses to use as housing sites for migrants, according to a source.

The source told NY1 the plan includes a total of 1,500 beds at the University at Buffalo, Stony Brook University and the University at Albany.

An announcement is expected as soon as next week, the source said.

As long as it was red states Texas and Florida bearing the brunt of massive Biden-era illegal immigration, blue state Dem politicians were happy to claim that only heartless xenophobes and racists could possibly object to open borders. But when Texas and Florida started shipping a comparative few to places like Martha’s Vineyard, Chicago, and New York City, it got very awkward. Hoping that nobody would notice that only a comparative trickle of illegals was coming their way compared to, say, El Paso, they declared a crisis. And started to have to make difficult choices.

"Clearly a SUNY campus lends itself to immediate help, but long-term, we have to have it free by August. So, what happens in August?" Hochul said in an interview with Spectrum News.

Using state college dorms has a huge risk if the invaders are still in residence when students return.   Forcibly evacuating them (to where?) would make for some awfully bad visuals. And what about the summer school students staying in dorms?  Illegal drugs and alcohol abuse problems, as well as sex in the stairwells  have been all over the hotels whch are being used to hold invaders.

What a great idea—especially if they’re housed at liberal arts colleges. Hochul should up the in-state tuition so these kids democRAT voting parents can help offset the costs of housing Biden’s “gifts to America” at their child’s school.

Excellent idea. The illegals can “enrich” the Me, Me, Me, generations right there in their indoctrination and programming institution. The college kids want America flooded with foreign freeloaders, they need to embrace the suck and invite them into THEIR homes.

I think it's important to remember that these “immigrants”
are not “illegal” anymore.
They are coming through the gates.
Giving the boarder patrol some information.... made up or real ... then being given phones, money, and a note to “check in later”.
They have “legal” status as “asylum seekers”.
The “get aways” are the only ones considered illegal.
You know ... the ones with backpacks full of fentanyl and the ones who have already been deported over and over.
Americans are not having children at a replacement rate. The powers that be on the right are counting on the influx to add to our gdp, but I don't think that we are getting the best and brightest from the rest of the world.
The powers on the left are counting on the influx to complete the clowerd piven process of overwhelming the system.

University dormitories, unused former prisons, empty hotel rooms, tent cities. Heck, unsold vacancies at mom and pop bed and breakfasts too. Make all air b&b room renters take illegals at a fixed rate from the Gubmint in every unsold vacancy posted.

Unused nursing home beds could be filled to brimming with migrants at a fixed rate of reimbursement. Most towns have town squares or city parks. Set up tent cities.

I never had the luxury of living in a college dorm. I commuted 30 miles (one way) to UCSD for classes and lived at home. Gasoline was 30 cents a gallon. The car delivered about 25 MPG.

I can't imagine being willing to pay top dollar to live in a campus dorm after it becomes a shelter for homeless illegal aliens.

My thoughts as well. They will come away regretting previous beliefs, much like the NY City Mayor regretting their "sanctuary city" status.
