Ending months of speculation, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis declared his presidential candidacy Wednesday, setting up a seismic clash with former President Donald Trump for GOP supremacy.

The graduate of Yale University and Harvard Law School formalized his White House bid in a filing with the Federal Election Commission. …Don’t we have enough Harvard Law graduates in the swamp already?
“There is so much hatred of DeSantis on Free Republic.”
By the same people who support the child molesters and money laundering of the democrap party in Ukraine.
What’s a rhino? I don’t think you even know what the words you use mean. You certainly seem to support the deep state rinos though.
Well, it IS pretty sound logic. Those turds belong in the past when we voted for the best of the worst.
If he was backed by Soros and Hillary, you’d say we were wrong to not back him?
Or Scott Walker 2.0. It's a big jump from governor to President and it starts by being able to build a big coalition. Maybe DeSantis can do it but that remains to be seen. To me, DeSantis still has that smell of a career politician.
I’m not a DeSantis supporter. I’m just observing the comments made on Free Republic, by so many here. There is a heck of a lot more than people discussing policy disagreements or qualifications for the presidency, in this Trump vs. DeSantis situation. There is a heck of a lot more going on, than comparing and contrasting the candidates.
If you don’t hate DeSantis, then such comments are not directed at you.
yes we do ... especially in the south ...
It doesn't help that he's aligned with the usual est. crowd.
Almost every presidential candidate ran before announcing. Nothing new or surprising here. It is normal and legit as the rules change. If I recall, even Trump did it for his reelection.
He has one chance and only one chance, the Uniparty/Soros kangaroo courts do all of the heavy work for him. If Uniparty seditious coup 2.0 wasn’t ongoing RdS would be angling for VP the spot.
What exactly have Karl Rove and Paul Ryan, and those like them, done for America?
Read my tagline.
Hard to believe Soros or Hillary would back a solid conservative such as Ron DeSantis.
Yes we should think about who supports various candidates. But is it a deal breaker? What about in a general election, with DeSantis vs. Biden? Because you don’t like Karl Rove and Paul Ryan, would someone vote for Biden?
he is DS and could not take on Minnie Mouse.

What a shame, I really thought he was smarter than this.
Yet you support a rino globalist, desanctomonious. Look at his list of donors and supporters and tell me desanctomonious is not a establishment rino globalist.
Then again, those guys are not candidates for public office. DeSantis is a candidate. DeSantis should be judged on his record in public office.
Everyone votes based on their own judgement and using their own criteria to make choices. You have your criteria. Use your criteria when you vote. We all do that.
If the entire GOP-E apparatus was behind a candidate, yes, I can see all sorts of people having problems voting for that creature.
The “Never Trumpers” already did that to Trump, twice.
