Former President Donald Trump blasted Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) ahead of his presidential campaign launch on Wednesday, asserting he would be doomed to fail in the general election after voting to overhaul entitlement programs when he was a congressman.
Trump, the leading Republican presidential candidate, took to Truth Social to hit DeSantis’s support of legislation that took aim at Social Security and Medicare during his time in Congress :

The Democrats have so much damage yet to do under Biden. Polls are worthless.
How many of you onlyTrumpers will sit out the election or waste your vote on some third party if Trump isn’t the nominee? Be honest.
100%. It's obscene and glaring...
If Trump really wants to win he should go back on twitter today and announce a twitter space at the same time DeSantis is having his.
“Now we’re a dozen years away from a 30% cut in payouts, and...it is STILL “untouchable”?”
Yep, and watch, when the automatic cuts kick in, all the “conservatives” around here, who didn’t ever want to hear one word about reforming it, will suddenly be griping that nobody fixed it.
Entitlement programs should be overhauled.
Democrats must love it when Republicans attack Republicans.
If Trump would just run on his record as President and what he plans to do to MAGA then he could beat anyone. He just doesn’t understand that he needs more than his base. He will always have his base.
Ten bucks says Trump will pull a 1992/Perot if he does not get the nomination.
So when the money eventually runs out...these seniors will just say “oh well, I am glad they didn’t try to fix it earlier. My 30% reduction is fine now because we kept those bastards from touching the third rail right up until the system broke.”
How will they vote when there isn’t the money to cover the obligations? Automatically, against all incumbents of both parties?
You can ignore the problem all you want, but the politicians better get serious about addressing it because it is a huge ticking time bomb.
Ah, you miss the point. Trump is ex-president, should be acting as one, above the fray so-to-speak. He should be vying for the deserved return. Instead, he’s down in the mud acting out in so many ways that only remind people of the worst about him.
It's really interesting how these allegations of disloyalty and betrayal are never leveled at Trump's own VP or his UN Ambassador Nikki Haley running against him
It's only DeSantis. These nervous breakdowns are only triggered by Ron DeSantis
I hope so. Let this particular quarrel appear larger than life and make the ultrarinos look more puny in comparison.
LOL!
From what I see on FR, polls are only worthless when they don’t favor trump.......when the show he’s beating Governor DeSantis by 40 points it’s the gospel.
I am a strong Trump supporter. And I believe he has this election in the bag right now. He has and will win the primary, but he needs to be careful because if he doesn’t take care he could lose the independents by what he says and how he says it. He cannot win the general without large independent support.
“ Trump never saw spending he didn’t like...bankrupt the future to pay for living it up now!”
That’s just silly
Ever heard of the CARES Act?
“The GOP then kept all the entitlement spending in place in 2017 when it failed to live up to its promise to repeal ObamaCare.
And so here we are.”
What about the CARES Act? Wasn’t that passed with the GOP in control of the senate and executive branches? It was a massive giveaway that handed “free money” to people I know that didn’t need the money and were doing great financially. It rewarded bad behavior by giving it to folks that weren’t “in need”. Talk about “entitlement spending”. But Trump just proved how he is not a fiscal conservative, which we already knew.
The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act, also known as the CARES Act, is a $2.2 trillion economic stimulus bill passed by the 116th U.S. Congress and signed into law by President Donald Trump on March 27, 2020, in response to the economic fallout of the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States. The spending primarily includes $300 billion in one-time cash payments to individual people who submit a tax return in America (with most single adults receiving $1,200 and families with children receiving more[5]),...
