Moscow running scared: Kremlin evacuates nine border villages and admits there is 'cause for serious concern' as pro-Ukraine fighters capture territory within Russia's Belgorod region

Russian authorities have ordered residents of nine villages in the Belgorod region bordering Ukraine to evacuate their homes after anti-Putin rebel groups began capturing territory on Russian soil.

The Kremlin's order comes hours after a pair of explosions rang out in the city of Belgorod overnight amid drone attacks on the FSB security service building and Interior Ministry offices.

Regional governor Vyacheslav Gladkov confirmed the aerial bombing raid had caused fires at government buildings and urged citizens to take shelter amid the rebel attacks.

Ukrainian military intelligence said two armed Russian opposition groups, the Freedom of Russia Legion and the Russian Volunteer Corps, were behind the biggest armed incursion into Russian territory since Putin's February 24, 2022 invasion of his neighbour – recognised as a 'serious cause for concern' by the Kremlin.

The attack was seemingly unexpected, with the rebels able to gain control of several Russian towns in a matter of hours.

It is good strategy for Ukraine to accomplish three things.

First, for Russia to not deploy all of its troops into former Ukrainian lands, but to require Russia to deploy some troops along its entire border with Ukraine. This will help dilute the already undermanned Russian forces within Ukraine.

Second, it will remind Russian military planners not to stockpile troops or materials close to the border as they are vulnerable to long distance rockets and to quick armored attacks. This means that the “truck” logistics to bring troops, fuel, munitions behind an attack from Russia into the Ukraine needs to be more extended. That means it will be vulnerable to attack. This further reduces the chance of Russia launching attacks from Russian territory into Ukraine.

Third, this tells the people on the Russian/Ukraine border who have watched the Russian army shelling of Ukrainian civilians and their homes that they to are not immune to the horrors of war. This should resonate through Russia that what Russia does to Ukrainians, could come home to Russians living near the border.

And by October of that year the Germans were forty miles from Moscow. Fortunately Hitler was an idiot.

He claimed he was going to eliminate Bolshevism and ended up dragging it into the heart of Europe where it sat for some fifty years.

That’s right....and China will continue doing so , there’s no will in any leadership worldwide to stop them nor interfere. China has a clear and precise agenda in what they want and desires on the World Stage.

This almost 15 minute long youtube report, which unfortunately I have trouble completely hearing, gives a number of fascinating facts and thoughts.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=67a7OqWvb4Q

1) The Russian rebel force has apparently taken 4 villages between Ukraine and Belgorod. These villages have Ukranian names and the Russians there speak Russian with a Ukraine accent.

2) There is a river on the north side of a line between the Ukraine border crossing point and Belgorod. Beyond the 4 villages taken already, a branch of the river turns south which puts the 4 villages in a somewhat defenseable pocket. This will make it hard for Russian troops in Russia to attack the Russian rebels. Map shown with strategic notations.

3) A term was mentioned, something like “Belgorod Peoples Republic.” I’m not sure if I remember it exactly, but the point was suggested of an independent small Russian people’s republic, like the ones in the Donbass, but on real RUssian soil. A possible negotiating point/position?

4) The point was made that Putin does not use the internet/email, so receiving information and giving orders by him is slowed down. Meanwhile the front line Russian troops, without orders, cut and run leaving their equipment behind for the Russian rebels to add to their supply.

I only watched half, will return to it later after work today. You make good points about the tremendous damage possible to do in Belgorod as a prime Russian logistics base. From this long youtube link, I get the impression the Belgorod region is as vulnerable to outside influences as was the Donbass region. Nice to see the shoe on the other foot.;-)

I think it’s a false flag by Russia to convince their people that it is necessary to take this war to Kiev, if not beyond.

that's been their cultural posture on almost every invasion on their border neighbors for all their history.

It's never "aggressive" or to "acquire" land/natural resources etc.... but as "defensive struggle" to save mother Russia......same as it ever was....same as it ever was...

Yes it’s a very dangerous time while so many take a buck or take a blind eye to the events that will enslave many as countries come under their ownership.

It's interesting what China is doing in Africa - but as we know it's the vast natural resources they're after IF they can sway, buy or somehow control the warring factions. Plenty of other nations have tried before.

One of the reasons we're seeing more military age African refugees going into Western countries is it's much easier to send/pay their way out of Africa so they can't be recruited - thus they resort to stealing children to train for their conflicts.
Once the population of military aged men is low enough I suspect the UN will bring in their military groups to keep the peace while China reaps it's bounty.

This is one of the idiots who led the attack on Belgorod...its not the first time he's tried to "invade" Russia, apparently.

I wonder what his FReeper handle is?

I wonder what his FReeper handle is?

He wasn't killed in the Belgorod attack like so many others were apparently, so he must be smarter than the average Zeeper.

I know that's a low bar...
