Survey: Ron DeSantis’s Favorability Slips, Donald Trump Remains Most Favorable in GOP Field

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’s favorability has slipped over the past week as former President Donald Trump remains the most favorable candidate in the hypothetical Republican field, this week’s Morning Consult survey found.

Trump remains the most favorable GOP contender, as 78 percent view him favorably, compared to 20 percent who do not. He is down one point from the 79 percent who viewed him favorably last week.

While DeSantis boasts the second highest favorability of all those listed in the survey, 66 percent, it reflects a six-point decrease from the 72 percent who viewed him favorably last week and a seven-point decrease from the 73 percent who viewed him favorably the week prior. In other words, he has experienced a seven-point drop in the last two weeks.

While former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley experienced a boost last week, jumping from 48 percent to 54 percent, she has gone back down, with 47 percent viewing her favorably this week. Nineteen percent say they have never heard of her — still a significant shift from the 29 percent who said they had never heard of her two weeks ago.

Anti-woke businessman Vivek Ramaswamy has 44 percent viewing him favorably, while 30 percent say they have never heard of him. This puts him more in line with Sen. Tim Scott, who is expected to announce a presidential run next week. Thirty-seven percent have a favorable view of the senator, while 32 percent say they have never heard of him.

The survey also shows Trump continuing to dominate in the hypothetical primary race, leading DeSantis — his closest potential challenger — 61 percent to 18 percent. This reflects a difference of 43 points.

2024 National Republican Primary:

Trump 61% (+43)
DeSantis 18%
Pence 6%
Haley 4%
Ramaswamy 4%
Cheney 2%

Same people who run the general election run the primaries. Do you believe the folks who commit election fraud in the general are completely honest running the primaries? If you believe the 2920 election results is legitimate, then you have a point. Where do you stand on that?

Stop trying to change the subject.

What proof do you have that Trumps support is illegitimate. You made the scandalous charge, back it up.

...just as we don’t know how many people at Trump’s rallies are being paid by George Soros to be there to give the illusion Trump has broad support.

DeSantis 18% that’s less then his 23% sales tax increase.

“What proof do we have that Trump’s support is legit and not being manipulated by the Deep State?”

A lot more than we have that you’re not being paid to post such nonsense. Trump routinely draws tens of thousands to his rallies. They take place all across America. Sometimes they’re scheduled on a week’s notice or less (particularly in the final months of the campaign) and yet people still flock to them. That kind of support would be impossible to stage.

Does Soros have a separate set of operatives for each city or do they travel from state to state, sometimes on just a few day’s notice? How are they paid? Paying that many people without leaving an evidence trail? Yeah, right.

Are people in your neighborhood who have Trump signs on their front lawns also paid?

The easiest accomplishment in Presidential politics is for the incumbent President to use his position, media access, and record to be elected to a second term.

Trump failed to do that.

Expecting him to do better while out of office fits my definition of insanity.

Secret Service agents are government employees. I wouldn’t bank on them being willing to go to prison for him, and I don’t think he’d ask them to. Let’s pray it doesn’t come to that.

You left off the most important detail of the 23% sales tax (and added the word “increase” disingenuously), that it was not an extra tax but the national Fair Tax that would have replaced income tax.

Amen! I agree with everything you said except for not voting. I will write Trump’s name in if he is not the nominee. He is the only one I will consider voting in for President. After a lifetime being a Republican, I changed my affiliation to Independent after what I saw the R’s did to Trump.

2024 National Republican Primary:

Trump 61% (+43)
DeSantis 18%
Pence 6%
Haley 4%
Ramaswamy 4%
Cheney 2%

In late May those numbers mean NOTHING.
