Bible in a Year:
But he refused.
A swimming instructor in New Jersey saw a car sinking into Newark Bay and heard the driver inside screaming “I can’t swim” as his SUV quickly sank into the murky waters. As a crowd watched from shore, Anthony ran to the rocks along the edge, removed his prosthetic leg, and jumped in to rescue the sixty-eight-year-old man and help him safely to shore. Thanks to Anthony’s decisive action, another man was saved.
Our choices matter. Consider the patriarch Jacob, the father of many sons, who openly favored his seventeen-year-old son Joseph. He foolishly made Joseph “an ornate robe” (Genesis 37:3). The result? Joseph’s brothers hated him (v. 4); and when the opportunity arose, they sold him into slavery (v. 28). Yet because Joseph ended up in Egypt, God used him to preserve Jacob’s family and many others during a seven-year famine—despite Joseph’s brothers’ intention to harm him (see 50:20). The choice that set it all in motion was Joseph’s decision to be honorable and run from Potiphar’s wife (39:1–12). The result was prison (39:20) and an eventual meeting with Pharaoh (ch. 41).
Anthony may have had the advantage of training, but he still had to make a choice. When we love God and seek to serve Him, He helps us make life-affirming and God-honoring choices. If we haven’t already, we can begin by trusting Jesus.
Reflect & Pray
What was the result of a recent choice you’ve made? How has God’s Spirit led you to make wise choices?
Dear God, help me to make wise decisions that honor You.
Good evening, ML...((HUGS))...and a Blessed Lord’s Day and Shavua Tov to you and yours.
Busy day? Everything ready? Everybody ready?
Hi, y’all….I was going to post some tunes tonight, but after the 2nd 7-hour, 425-mile trip in a week today, I’m completely whipped! We met up with Allegra for the BEST burger in the world at “Health Camp” in Waco, and MY, we sure did wish you were there with us! The food is as yummy as ever! We wanted ice cream, but were just too full after the huge burger and tons of fries, tots or onion rings. |
Glad you made it home safe and sound, though that was a loooooong day. At least part of the trip was fun, meeting up with Allegra for a yummy meal!
It was all fun, but meeting up with her was like the sprinkles on top. LOL!
Easy to imagine. Glad y’all were able to connect.
Sounds like you had a great week all around.
they got great malts!!
Good evening, you two...glad you are safely back home, luvie. Sounds like you and Allegra had a fun time and a good meal.
Not to worry...I don’t want you falling asleep at your computer.
nothin to you but a bonus is HC is full of baylor chicks
So I’ve heard. But maybe next time I’ll just skip the burger….hard I know…and go for the malt. What flavor do you recommend?
Even I noticed that there were lots of young pretty girls AND handsome guys. ;)
I’ll do better next week! LOL! It’s always fun to meet a FReepr, especially someone I’m already friends with and have missed seeing.
Yes, it was great meeting up with luvie after so many years and to also finally meet her husband. Two such wonderful people and a delicious meal - I can’t think of a better way to spend a Saturday afternoon!
So glad you got home safely and I hope you have a nice rest after an active week and a couple of long drives. Let’s not make it so long before we meet up again. 🤗♥️
LOL - the “off-season” is starting now as most of the Baylor kids are headed back to their respective homes for summer break. (Easier to find parking spaces downtown now.)
But there were still a few collegiate types at HC for you to ogle. 👀 Heh!
The Hunt for Hidden Nazi Air Force Technology
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kch62SRlaKU
The American B-24 Liberator bomber sat motionless on the airfield as though awaiting inspection or maintenance from an aircrew. The sky appeared clear, & suddenly a piercing shriek shattered the silence as an M2-262, the world’s first operational jet aircraft, burst onto the scene.
Without hesitation, the Me-262’s Mk 108 cannon roared to life, & one of its 30-millimeter mine shells struck the midsection of the sturdy bomber. The projectile detonated upon impact, and hundreds of stainless steel shards tore apart the bomber’s fuselage, destroying it. Even more striking was the location where the event occurred. The B-24 had not been obliterated in Europe, but at Wright Field, Ohio, by a captured Me-262.
The men in charge were the Watson’s Whizzers, an Army Air Forces intelligence team tasked with capturing as much Luftwaffe technology as possible during the last weeks of World War 2 and analyzing it before the Soviets could advance into the heart of Germany…
Wow - that picture must have been before I got there. The line was long and stayed long while I was there. But they’re pros - the line moves fast and they get that food right out.
Good evening, Mayor, and thank you for today’s sustenance for body and soul.
A Blessed Lord’s Day to you and yours. Hope you’ve been resting and enjoying the weekend.
I’ve met a few FReepers over the years but the key word is “few”. Always had a great time with them though.
Gotta say I’m jealous. LOL But glad y’all finally got to meet. Bet it was a blast.
O M G !!! You actually got up, LEFT home, and went for a chocolate shake, and went even further!! Good girl!!
Glad you had a couple tours.
HEAVY, heavy winds today. It was a slog to walk into the mall, and a very careful time getting out to my car. I don’t appreciate the wind trying to hurry me along. I need to walk at my usual snail’s pace.
I finished early at work, so called downstairs to Olive Garden to use my gift card. The Finance Dept boss gave them to us a couple years ago. I got fettuccini alfredo and salad and bread sticks.
The Dimond Center parking lot was filled...the Saturday Market has restarted for the summer, and the younger kids were having some sort of performance on the skating rink. I drove and picked up my stuff at 3pm. Olive Garden and Chilis are at the complete opposite end of the mall from my office. I am STUFFED, and I have enough left for a couple more meals.
It has been windy at my house all day, but it has pretty much died down now, with just the occasional gusts.
Yes, I left for a shake. The craving was that bad. LOL The last time was a bust since both were out of shake mix the last time and that craving was never satisfied. It was tonight, at least, so I’m good for a little while.
I’m glad the wind’s dying down a little at your house at last. It’s still chopping up Lake Hood pretty good and making the cam jiggle as it pans back and forth. It looked pretty rough yesterday afternoon when I checked the cam too. I reckon all of you would appreciate a calm day after the last few.
Mmmmm, Olive Garden. I love their bread sticks and salad and used to love their manicotti. But they took manicotti off their menu for some reason a few years ago and I haven’t been back since. Like you, I always had leftovers to enjoy for another meal or two. Yours is even better because it was free! LOL
